Charlie Daniels: Time to shut down on illegal immigrants
The Sidney Herald ^ | Wednesday February 8, 2006 | Charlie Daniels

For education and discussion only. Not for commercial use.

It seems that the U.S.A. has a history of waiting until the horse is gone before securing the proverbial barn door. In some cases it´s simply expensive or inconvenient, but in some cases it is downright dangerous.

Although few on the left are willing to admit, it´s pretty well known that Bill Clinton had at least three chances to take bin Ladin into custody and refused. We all know that we brought Saddam to his knees during the first Gulf War and sailed away without finishing the job, necessitating the second Gulf War.

We all know that our Congress usually takes so long in passing meaningful legislation that by the time it becomes law it is, many times, toothless and obsolete.

But one of the most dangerous things happening in our nation right now is the situation at our southern borders. Everyday illegals cross the international border of Mexico with impunity. Our cities are inundated with unpapered, non-English speaking aliens.

I have no problem with honest people coming to this country seeking a better life for them and their families, but when they come in illegally I am dead set against it. We don´t even know they´re here and we have no way of knowing what kind of people they are.

Are they Islamic sympathizers bent on destroying us and our way of life? Are they violent gang members who hire out to do murder and mayhem? Are they drug traffickers, fugitives from the law, disease carriers or political malcontents?

The fact is that when they simply walk across our borders we have no way of knowing who or what they are. Is this not insanity?

It has been proven that most politicians have not got the guts to deal with the situation. It´s not a Democratic or Republican thing, nor a left or right thing, it´s simply a political hot potato that will continue to grow bigger and hotter until it eventually explodes in one way or another.

These illegals are straining the budgets of every border state and now some politicians want to give them what´s tantamount to having undocumented American citizenship, allowing them to participate in social programs and entitlements.

There is no way that this situation is ever going to resolve itself. This is a festering sore that becomes bigger and more infected every passing day and, at sometime in the future, will manifest itself in some catastrophic result in this nation. Whether it comes in the form of a nuclear attack or some contagious, out-of-control disease, when it hits I hope that people in this nation will remember how our state and federal politicians left us vulnerable and defenseless, all in the cause of trying to buy themselves a few more votes.

In my book they´re all culpable - the president, Congress, Senate, governors and legislatures. It´s way past time to shut the barn door.

You're right Charlie. And that would make a mighty fine tagline too ;o)

I agree!

This non-issue you've fabricated is laughably lame. Good luck rallying the troops on that one.

Whew talk about a lame reply.

You can read all about Charlie Daniels "love"(actually monica like love for hollyweird) for the South, from his lyrics from the song "Uneasy Rider".

You do realize that if all these illegals are given citizenship closing the border won't matter much since thanks to family chain laws and any guest worker program that's get enacted half that country will be able to immigrate legally. I'm not sure that's in the national interest to allow one country to dominate our immigration system in such a manner. Not to mention it'll no doubt give the democratic party majority rule possibly for decades.

It gets worse.

Under the terms of the Social Security Totalization Agreement, the Mexican illegal alien can apply for and receive benefits for his Mexican national wife and Mexican national children, even if they've never stepped foot in the USA.

So, the question becomes, just how large is a Mexican illegal alien's family?

Since the SSA didn't really investigate the Mexican SS system for financial integrity, we have no way of knowing.

Worse still, the corrupt Mexican govenment officials could even start padding the roles with phony names to get even more money from our US Social Security. Since Bush's SS Administrator failed to provide any documentation of their system, they could be doing anything and we'd have no way to verify it.

And soon enough, the US Social Security system would bankrupt.

Thanks, George W. Bush!

Yes, for illegals the family chain laws could not be allowed to apply. The guest worker program will only not be legal illegal immigration if these people are rigorously tracked and if they overstay their permits the authorities move immediately to deport and ban for life reentering.

Also, I favor some real punitive consequences such as being incarcerated in a very austere facility for say a year for doing this before being shipped back to whereever. Again, in practical terms the government would have to display more intestinal fortitude than it currently does for this to work. Perhaps its the change in the larger culture, a majority (although no means all) of Americans seem to be mushy at the center and more afraid of being called 'meanspirited' or 'racist' than effectively betraying their country.

It appears to be part of a well organized plan to merge all three countries of North America into one entity, which would include free movement of people, one currency and even a sharing of a social system, mainly ours. The guest worker plan and totalization agreement are the beginning phases as outlined by CFR. Two years ago people would have been called tin foilers for suggesting such a thing but they're not even trying to hide the agenda anymore.

Your constant harping about a totally harmless song from 34 years ago has to be the silliest ranting I've ever seen on any thread anywhere.

Well then given your above opinion, you are basically saying that anything that Charlie Daniels sings or writes(such as the article which this thread is based on) is harmless(i.e meaningless).

When they refuse to go back as they agreed to do, what then? How will the terms of the visa be enforced?

The hundreds of thousands of central americans who came here "temporarily" after their floods, won't leave. There are 3.6 million visa overstays, that can't be found. There are 100,000 leftovers from the last amnesty that did not come forward by the deadline (probably in jail)

Answer Dan's question, Dane. You hiding from it is very telling.

Another good conservative, Jim Inhofe has introduced S 2117. Why don't you get behind that bill? YOU know they won't go back, don't you?

Well, given your silence on the lack of enforcement provisions, you are basically saying that the Kyl/Cornyn proposal isn't worth the paper on which it's written.

If defending it was a worthwhile endeavor, you would be doing so with as much vigor as you've shown for attacking a 1972 Charlie Daniels song.

Hiding from what? Hiding that I support a bill that could pass the Senate(Kyl/Cornyn) and which IMO, would be a good start in solving a problem that has been festering since LBJ and the liberals started back in the mid-60's.

Like I said before, get back to me when Charlie Daniels renounces all royalties from his song that puts down the South but got his foot and his soul into hollyweird.

Wow, Dane, you are really outdoing yourself today. Not content with your inevitable Straw Man, you add an ad hominem feature. Bravo.

Dane, for novelty, maybe you could discuss the actual issue. Show us where Charlie Daniels errs in his argument, and convince us that massive illegal immigration is a boon for America. Because otherwise you are merely being a disruptor.

You really need to stop attacking the messenger, especially when they're correct as Daniels is. If open borders is so wonderful as you believe then tell us why. Oh and btw it would be helpful if before you start advocating for a massive guest worker program like Kyl/Cornyn you read it first.

Or your defending a Charlie Daniels article in 2006.(BTW Charlie Daniels never had to got through the scrunity of a political campaign as he collects royalities from his hollyweird stereotype anti-Southern song "Uneasy Rider").

So you are basically stating that Charlie Daniels was correct and truthful in his saying most Southereners have green teeth as he described in his song "Uneasy Rider" which to this day he still collects royalties from.

Yes and I also believe that when Wile E. Coyote runs over a cliff he just stands there in the air for 10 seconds thinking about it before falling. Dane if you can't tell the difference between entertainment and reality then maybe you should stay away from the radio and tv.

Yuh know maybe you should read your above and think for a while, before casting aspersions about who believes in reality and those who dwell in thinking that words from entertainers ala Charlie Daniels and barbara streisand is true reality, especially given the world they live in.

I've not written a word in defense of Daniels.

I have written many words asking you to defend the lack of enforcement provisions in the Kyl/Cornyn immigration proposal, which you, yourself, introduced into this discussion.

You have refused to write even a single word in support of this proposal.

This leads me to one, inescapeable conclusion.

The bill is neither conservative, nor worth supporting.

If it were, you would have already done so.

LOL! You haven't written a word criticizing his fatalistic generalites either.

Whew danny, maybe you should put your resume into chuckie schumer's office.

You seem to believe your own BS, like chuckie schumer, that you are straddling the fence and in the middle of the political road.
