I've read a little about Col. Boyington...
He was an alcoholic, self promoting climber and many of the men he led have spoken out against him.
Nevertheless, they acknowledged he was a fine combat pilot.
He was a man with clay feet....like all of us...
He was no saint...

That being said...
He was was a hell of a pilot, and did more than his fair share of fighting....
This country would be well served to have more like him.....perhaps a little more sober.

Hmmm.. though I have known such women that KNOW how to handle such men in polite company...

For his own school to refuse him a place of honor - diminishes the school - not Col. Boyington..
