Wheels are coming off Bush/Cheney machine

That deafening noise we've been hearing is the sound of wheels falling off the most secretive and autocratic presidency in our history.

The disintegration is long overdue. This nation of laws, separation of powers and equal justice has suffered enough.

After five torturous years, we are finally getting a look inside a government led by a cadre of self-righteous demagogues, committed to opportunism, self-aggrandizement and self-enrichment.

Many, including one-time friends and associates of the Bush/Cheney power elite, have been preaching the horrors of what's going on behind closed doors, only to be shouted down, bullied, threatened or smeared.

Even members of their own party are not spared. NewsMax.com, a conservative Web site, recently reported that "White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove has threatened to blacklist any Republican who votes against President Bush in the Senate Judiciary Committee's investigation of the administration's unauthorized wiretapping..."

Fortunately there are those who have had enough and are coming forward.

- Someone in the administration, concerned that the Bush/Cheney cabal is violating Americans' civil liberties, leaked wiretapping information.

- A retired career CIA intelligence officer wrote in the respected "Foreign Affairs" journal that the administration cherry-picked intelligence to justify the invasion of Iraq. This dove-tails with earlier information from ex-administration officials that Bush/Cheney were hell-bent on sending people to die in a country that had nothing whatsoever to do with the 9/11 terror attacks.

And even disgraced insiders are squealing.

- Michael Brown, the fired Katrina debacle scapegoat, turned on his former bosses after they hung him out to dry. He told the Senate under oath that he warned the White House early on that the hurricane was a disaster but was ignored.

- Ex-Cheney chief of staff and indicted perjurer I. Lewis Libby reportedly has testified that he was authorized by his "superiors" to leak classified information as part of a plan to justify the administration's Iraq invasion.

- Associates of lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who the White House would have us believe Bush/Cheney barely knew, are telling tales about how the convicted GOP influence merchant was, in truth, very tight with Bush/Cheney. So much so that he claims to have been invited to the president's ranch - after ponying up $100 grand for the good of the Bush/Cheney cause.

Hopefully, as more people get fed up - for whatever reason - or they grow spines, we'll find out even more about what has happened to this nation since the Supreme Court put this crowd in charge.

Let the cleansing begin.

...the most secretive and autocratic presidency in our history.

Compare and contrast to FDR (especially in the WWII years).

For future reference and clarification:

Anytime any writer refers to "the people" or "congress" or "members of congress" etc as having been raising "issues", the writer is talking about partisan BS issuing from the disloyal opposition.

If we are unpatriotic, which nation (or interntational cause) are we pledging our allegiance to?

I know there are some who support global socialism/communism. And some who support global Islamonazism.

Both ruling systems seek to topple our form of government. But what makes the Bush supporters unpatriotic (like these other groups)?

Ex-Cheney chief of staff and indicted perjurer I. Lewis Libby..."

Uh, shouldn't that be "indicted for perjury, but not yet convicted?"

What a BARF O RAMA!

Exactly. They actually say "perjurer" after "indicted" back-to-back. They most have morons as readers if they think that doesn't scream intellectual dishonesty.

You have to love the WH press corps meltdown triggering these psyco-pathologies from the locals. The crying of wolf is deafening.

I think President Bush ought to contract a weekly "fireside news chat" with FOX NEWS and have it in a different room of the White House each week. It's time to drive the left off the edge of sanity since they're teetering on it anyway!

This is TOO funny. While Bush is strangling the life out of the democratic chances for revival, this idiot sees nothing but roses for his Bush hating buddies. ROFL

I thought this was from a blog and was stunned to discover it was a paper. The language is now openly partisan and crazy moonbat talk.

Astonishing.

Mary Matalin said it correctly this morning on the "Today" show. The term "secret" is a word conjured up by the critics. Bush/Cheney are secret only with those things that are important to be secret ie. WAR! She handled little Miss Tuffet very well this morning. How she sleeps with her husband I will never know.

It just dawned on me. You know that syndrome where some women will fawn all over a famous serial killer during the trial; offers of marriage, etc. Ted Bundy's case was a good example. I'm not a psychologist, but that's my layman's guess as to the parallel-as much as I respect Mary even.

I'd no sooner debate someone still arguing that Bush was selected/not elected than I would someone who argues that we faked the moon landing or someone who denies the Holocaust.

but it doesn't surprise me that moonbats thrive there.

Bush CLOBBERED Kerry there.  It is I believe just the media faction moonbats, that as usual don't reflect the views of the populus.

"That deafening noise we've been hearing is the sound of wheels falling off the most secretive and autocratic presidency in our history."

This is the biggest fraud being perpetrated by the mediacrats. The fact that they can call this administration the most secretive in the shadows of the Clinton administration is a joke. In fact, most of the Bush Administations problems are a result of not being secretive enough, as everything gets leaked to the media from those who have political agendas.

Unlike Clinton who immidiately set up a wall of protection, Bush did no such thing. He has let more previous administration officials remain in place than any other president in decades...hardly the resume of a "secretive" administration. What's amazing is the media making these claims as they ignored Clinton's unprecedented purges from all levels of the executive branch when he was president.

From the DA Massacre that resulted in the termination of all US Attorneys, to the replacement of Inspector Generals and department heads....to even the felonious charges against Billy Dale to remove him from the Travel Office, Bill Clinton had the most secretive administration I can recall. Heck, that administration was so secretive that it had an Attorney General that was often threatened with Contempt of Congress because she wouldn't disclose supboened documents requested during congressional investigations.

The media is an absolute joke in making this claim, since they were the ones AWOL during China-gate, Campaign finance violations, Whitewater, Travelgate...and any number of investigations that the Clinton administration stonewalled, with the help of the media. Please, this isn't even a close contest when you consider the fall-guys, indictments, contempt-of-courts, AWOL and "I can't recall" witnesses that infested the CLinton Administration.
