Thanks for the kind words. I understand the other view (ban it), because Islam is - indeed - unique among today's beliefs in its uncompromising quest for world domination. But that only means, as another poster (or several, by now) brought up ealier, that we need to be especially vigilant - and exercise ALL our freedoms in doing so (especially speech, press, assembly, and self-defense).

Attempting to "outlaw Islam" - apart from being impractical - would bring America in line with Austria, where an alleged Holocaust-denier is currently facing criminal charges. Such an America would be too similar to the Soviet Russia my parents and I left in 1980. No place for that here - not even after 9/11.

I cannot believe what some posters on this thread are advocating. Of course, we all had a bit of the "nuke-'em-all" anger inside of us right after the 9/11 attacks. We need to remember that day, guard our freedoms when threatened, and fight back when attacked. But I will dignify any "wipe out all Islam" arguments with no more time than it took me to write this sentence.

With freedom comes responsibility (libertarians believe this despite what some conservatives say), and I view the Second Amendment as a bit of both. I just hope it doesn't have to come to that.
