I am about to purchase it but do you prefer it ordered from Amazon or Barnes & Nobles. Let me know if it matters (not sure why it would).

I'd say at least 25% of a book is minimum to really "hook" readers. If they get that far into reading it, and they like it, they will for SURE buy it. I constantly hear from readers, "I started reading your excerpts, and had to buy your book!" I see no advantage at all to hiding your light under a bushel basket.
