Why would you ruin a $100/person dinner by bringing a 2 year-old?

Probably because they've run through every baby sitter in town with their "angel" and are forced to take him/her along if they want to go out.

I sort of live in a world with very few children around me. I can go days without seeing a kid. Not that I'm complaining.

Actually, we do it because we're foodies and we love and enjoy the company of our children. My husband and I are both chefs and my mother and father love to eat. We want our children to be sophisticated eaters who know how to behave in a restaurant because this is important to all of us. My kids (6,4, and 2) sit for the entire meal and don't talk over everyone else. At the slightest hint of misbehavior we simply take them to the car. They hate this, because they want the good stuff too. Children can be taught to behave in nice restaurants it just takes determination and an ability to overlook the sneers and comments of sniveling liberals who think telling your kids no is the greatest sin possible on earth.

Several years ago my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. It had been a tough year financially and we were looking forward to our dinner at a nice restaurant.

A woman came in with a boy around 7 years old. There also was a couple with them. Anyways the boy once seated immediately began acting up. He ended up screaming (not crying) and screaming very loudly. He paid no attention to his mother's pleas to be quiet. In fact, he slapped her in the face not once but several times. This went on and on. The manager came over to their table and gave the boy candy to keep quiet. Did not work. This boy continued to scream like a wild animal.

Do you think this mother removed this monster from the restaurant ... no. I guess she figured it was alright for her child to disrupt everyone's dinner. People started asking for take out boxes to get away from this brat. Sure ruined our dinner.
