Here's my summary of my Weekend Talk Show *Meme Predictions* for 3/2/06 - 3/3/06 and what I think the guests are there to try to do
- Memes:
- Iran is the real problem and we can't win in Iraq because we haven't "taken care" of them (JER)
- Bush made a very important foreign policy trip - did anyone notice? (JER)
- Is Iraq lost? - Would that be Bush's Fault? (FNS)
- Iraq is lost, it's a civil war - It's Bush's Fault (MTP, ABCTW, CNNLE)
- Afghanistan is lost, it's a civil war - It's Bush's Fault (CNNLE)
- The Iraq war is hopeless and we must run away now (FTN)
- We're giving the terrorists control of our ports - It's Bush's Fault (MTP, FTN, ABCTW, CNNLE)
- The media lied about the "secret" AP tapes, but Bush still messed up badly (FNS)
- Bush hung Michael Brown out to dry (FNS)
- We better be nice to Russia, or else (MTP)
- John Edwards is running for President (MTP)
- Richard Lugar is thinking of running for President (FTN)
- Everybody's running for something, but mostly President (ABCTW)
- The wrong people are winning the Presidency in Iraq (CNNLE)
- Guests
- Michael Rubin, (a former U.S. official in Iraq now at the American Enterprise Institute) (JER)
- Rubin wrote an article on this shows main topics, linked in original thread
- Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Peter Pace (MTP)
- General Pace will try to talk about success in Iraq, but all of the questions will be about the civil war and how things are getting much worse
- former FEMA Director Michael Brown (FNS)
- Brown will insist he isn't trashing the President and will proceed to trash the President by trashing everyone who works for him
- Democrat John Edwards (MTP)
- Edwards will try to act Presidential and will emphasize how much of an expert on foreign policy he is now
- Republican Jack Kemp (MTP)
- Kemp will try to defend the ports deal with Timmy won't give him the chance or will set him up then turn to Edwards and say, in effect, that Kemp must be out of his mind
- Jack Kemp will act remarkably like a good ex-President, too bad he never got the chance
- Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind. (FTN)
- It seems that Lugar is pissed at the White House, but he'll make some half hearted noises defending our policy in Iraq, even though he thinks it's failing
- Luger is really pissed about the ports deal
- Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa. (FTN)
- Murtha will quote Graham Chapman from Monty Python and the Holy Grail: "Run away!"
- Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine (ABCTW)
- Susan Collins thinks the ports deal finally gives her the weapon she needs to bash the White House, which she feels hasn't paid enough attention to the "real Republicans," meaning the RINOs
- Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif. (ABCTW)
- Hunter is really pissed about the ports deal
- Retired Gen. Wesley Clark on Iraq and his 2008 presidential prospects. (ABCTW)
- Clark will show what a policy wonk he is and will make outrageous charges over the ports deal and the Iraq civil war
- He will also try to show that he has a "real policy" for ending world poverty (by giving away all of your wealth - you rich capitalist you)
- Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich (roundtable) (ABCTW)
- He's short
- He's really, really, short
- The ports deal is yet another plot by the Bush family to enrich their best friends, the Arab oil sheiks and the oil companies, at the expense of hard working American union workers
- He's really short, you know
- The Washington Examiner's Bill Sammon (roundtable) (ABCTW)
- Sammon will try to point out the lies of the MSM this week, particularly the Katrina video and the rigged CBS poll, but Steffy will only be interested in finding more dirt about Bush from Sammon's book
- ABC News' George Will. (roundtable) (ABCTW)
- George Will hates the Bush family - he will prove it yet again this week
- Stephen Colbert (ABCTW)
- One of the two most professional newsmen on TV - he will talk about the other one who is hosting the Oscars and predict that he will fail (early transcript of this segment mentions this - article linked below)
- Gen. James Jones: NATO Supreme Allied Commander (CNNLE)
- General Jones will try to talk about how NATO is succeeding in Afghanistan, but Wolf will emphasize resistance by old Europe to the planned NATO rapid reaction force
- Adnan Pachachi: Iraqi Parliament member, former Iraqi foreign minister (CNNLE)
- The secular parties are being out maneuvered by the young radical Imams with militias
- This guy appears to be the New York Times favorite source of quotes about Iraq, so he must be bad news for Bush
Miss Marple has a great post about Lugar
Morgan in Denver has a really good summary post as well as an excellent post (with links) concerning the "More Boots On The Ground" mantra of the MSM and the left
Thanks to everyone who contributed. I'll probably be very light today trying to catch up with stuff before being away from work for the week.
