HAS ANYBODY SAID IT YET? BOYCOTT THE OSCARS (Oscars Live Thread)
3-4-06 | freedom4me

Posted on 03/05/2006 1:43:20 PM PST by freedom4me

I suppose on this thread it goes without saying, but I'll say in anyway...BOYCOTT THE OSCARS tonight.

I want the ratings for this year's program go into the toilet (where most the nominated movies belong). I won't waste my money to see the films, my electricity to watch the Oscars, or my time watching to witness Hollywood's self-adulation fest.

Pass it on...

Everyone can find out who won tomorrow when Giggly Katie and her short fat legs is sucking up to the winner.

Sci Fi Channel is running some of the later one star "Hellraiser" sequels, both from 2005. They sound horrible but a heck of a lot better that the Oscar's tribute to fruits and weirdos.

Why would any normal person be interested in this year's crop of crap from the perverts in Hollywood? The most that any sane person would do is maybe watch the first short bit of monologue to see if there is any decent humor. As for the rest, I'll just take the trash and recycling out to the curb and tend to the weekly requirements of my household.

You're bad.

Thank you. I have been told that before. And I try to live up to the reputation.

I don't do boycotts. Is it okay if I just don't watch because I'm not interested and because I can't stand Jon Stewart?

The very best part about this year's Oscars is that after they're done we will no longer have to hear how daring movies about frustrated transsexuals, gay authors, and pup-tent peter-puffing sheepherders are. Give it a rest already.

I've been not caring about the Oscars for a long time. Reflexive boycott.

Good idea. When are they so I can be sure to do something else?

TVLand has been running Andy Griffith all weekend. That's what I've been watching.

How can I boycott something I don't consume to begin with? No change in my behavior is required.

I have no desire to watch the Oscars...especially since I haven't gone to see a single movie this year.

I've noticed a trend with the 'big' networks -- whenever a 'big' event is being broadcast, most of the other networks choose to show reruns.

That doesn't always help, however. When NBC was running the Olympics, some of the reruns on other networks gave NBC serious challenge.

Tonight, most of the broadcast networks are showing reruns, again.

I can remember, back when I was kid, had to walk 10 miles through the snow, uphill in both directions, to school, barefoot....but I digress... Used to be that the other networks would 'challenge' a big event by broadcasting their own. Not any more, it seems. Some of the best nights for TV were when the big 3 actually competed and tried to out-program the others.

TVLand has been running Andy Griffith all weekend. That's what I've been watching. Which reminds me of the only poignant moment of the Oscars tonight -- the montage of the movie personalites lost in the past year, people from the better days when there actually were actors (not celebrities or "stars" or "personalities") in Hollywood. Back when Hollywood (and New York!) were entertaining.
