Used to be that the other networks would 'challenge' a big event by broadcasting their own. Not any more, it seems. Some of the best nights for TV were when the big 3 actually competed and tried to out-program the others.

These days, the Big 3 have to also compete with all the cable channels, plus DVDs and the Internet for viewer eyes. It makes more sense for them to cooperate
