She died of lung cancer. Haven't found any links yet. Heard it on WLSAM Chicago.

I don't care about what Dana's political beliefs were, this is so sad. May she rest in peace. She was a good wife and a good mother.

If I found the first tobacco plant, and went to the government to get permission to sell this toxic, highly addictive and often lethal substance to the public, how far do you think I'd get?

Your problem is not your atttude toward smoking, but rather your assumption that you need to "go to the government" and "ask permission" for your freedom.

No, they dont. Ask any Oncologist who deals with lung cancer on a daily basis. My mother quit smoking at the age of 50. Last August, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer at 79.

My mom died of lung cancer almost ten years ago and she never smoked. Went into the hospital with pneumonia and found out she had lung cancer and she died five weeks later.

Re-read my post, Einstein! I just said there was discussion about Reeve's career as a cabaret singer and her exposure to smoke. I didn't offer an opinion about the validity of the argument.

This is so sad for their son.

I had 2 sister-in-laws die. One smoked and died of lung cancer, the other was a health nut and died of inflammatory breast cancer. They died within months of each other.

Life is a crap shoot mostly.

It is the cruelest of diseases. Things happen so fast. My friend Cathy was diagnosed in July, and lived until February. She, too, was just experiencing some shortness of breath; she thought it was getting re-acclimated to WI after spending some time in the mountains of CO. She actually lived three months more than they had predicted, but living with a death sentence is just horrible, no matter how you look at it.

I'm sorry for your loss, too.

Lung cancer in your 40's is very ominous. Her's also sounded aggressive, so I knew she'd be dead soon.

Cancer is scary. And to make it worse, now they're finding out that some forms are CONTAGIOUS! :-O

I'm just going to hole up in my boat and drift at sea until it's safe to come back.

Of course Jesus has given you some sixth sense that allows you to know what is in a person's heart.

Thanksfully Jesus will make that decision for me, not you.

Thank you. It was just a weird feeling when the doctor told me and my siblings it was lung cancer. We sat there saying no way she never smoked and he assured us it was lung cancer. I'm just thankful it was fast and pretty much painless for her. You just never know.

Non-smokers get lung cancer all the time. Read the stats. You're TWICE as likely to get lung cancer if you smoke.

That means for every 3 smokers, 1 is a non smoker.

Are you saying there shouldn't be laws b/c that's what gets people killed?

I read this book a while ago, but if I remember correctly, people were killed due to the trafficing aspect, such as people are killed in gang wars over drug turf.

Bigs bucks bringing pot over the border. I tell you what, no one ever thinks about that aspect of it when they're smoking one little doobey in the living room.

>>>She wasn't a smoker. But she was exposed to concentrated second-hand smoke for years. (She sang in bars.)>>>

Of course, because it HAD to be SOMETHING to do with smoking. Lung Cancer didn't exist until smoking you know.

So very, very sad.

I cannot offer prayers as I am not in any way religous. I do offer my sincere and very deepest sympathy though. We Jews will never forget the courageous solidarity trip her husband made to Israel in her hour of need:

Wherever they both are, I truly hope they find eternal peace. It is what righteous people deserve.
