A source close to the deal said members of Dubais royal family are furious at the hostility both Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill have shown toward the deal.
Theyre saying, All weve done for you guys, all our purchases, well stop it, well just yank it, the source said.
Retaliation from the emirate could come against lucrative deals with aircraft maker Boeing and by curtailing the docking of hundreds of American ships, including U.S. Navy ships, each year at its port in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the source added.
Well, are we all happy now...

Personally, I agree with the UAE. Did we all think it was risk free for them to allow American warships to pay visits there? They could have just said no...I think they have a right to be indignant. In my opinion, this whole thing is politics in an election year.

Not surprising an Arab nation would threaten us. But don't worry - Bush has promised to veto any bill to stop the sale. I just have to wonder why he is so determined to see this through.

That's interesting, we have to give them these bases or they threaten to harm us in every way they can?
I have not followed this issue or made a decision about it until now. With these threats the deal is OVER. So much for pleas about what great friends they are. Do what they want or face their wrath. I say we Giulani them and say keep your money...

Probably only the first of many Middle East countries offering some support to us to slam the door.

Well, it looks like the ruling family has thier panties in a twist. We could also pull our military installations from thier country and let them do it thier own national security.
That might give `em a little "perspective".

I can't fault Dubai for their reaction. It takes 2 to make a partnership and the Prez realizes this, whereas the Dims/MSM/rebellious Repubs seem to think we can snub whoever it feels good to snub and not incur any repercussions. The fallout may very well cause much more harm to our National Security and interests than even what the most fertile imaginations of the knee-jerker political opportunists are claiming might happen if Dubai gets to run some of the facilities. Especially sad since they formed their initial impressions with a marked lack of knowledge of the real situation and decided to ride the wave into the November elections instead of looking at the facts. The Dims are being Dims and the Repubs are being ...Dims.

Well....there is at least one thing very WRONG in that article..
The Senators are NOT willing to wait until the 45 day review is up....they are wanting to deal with this today..most of them.
Dorgan stood up on the Senate floor this morning and said that he doesn't need 45 days...he didn't need 45 MINUTES...to say NO WAY.

We never should have let it reach the point where their assistance and commerce was dependent on them operating our ports. Let them bleat, but keep our ports out of their hands.

Oh so that is how it is? The truth comes out. Now that they can not get what they want they are going to try and BLACKMAIL the USA into bending over and grabbing our ankles and giving it to them anyway? Right, who will they run to when Alkadia decides it is time to take the UAE down?
True "friends" stick with/by you whether they get what they want or not. Sure this deal fell through and with good reason as far as I am concerned. But the good old USA has and is doing a ton for the UAE, but I guess that does not count if your ultimate goal is a subserviant dhimmi sp? USA. Ny tagline says all I need to know about Islam.

nah we don't need any friggin allies in the region...
we are only holding Iraq together (not tenuously but still we are a major part of what's going on there).
We are only moving towards the bring of war with Iran.
We are only trying to fight AQ on their own territory.
We don't need no damned allies!! We can do it all on our own hook!!
/idiots, savage fans, Republicans who can't see strategically and Chuck Schumer who LOVES embarrassing the right wing
