One man's job is another man's illegal activity.

Sounds like Reuters.

OK, I'm a drama queen...whatever Cop. I'm just not in favor of giving the government more power over the citizens they swore an oath to protect and obey.

This is how liberty ends, with thunderous applause.

As it did in Nazi Germany.

As it did in Soviet Russia.

As it did in Maoist China.

It was ever thus.

I am just enjoying the fact that Dubai pulling out seems to have you top-of-building-with-rifle freaked-out.

It fills me with great serenity.

I bet you even lost money. WHOOO HOOO! :)

Thanks, Bro. These are the same people that would be screaming from the rooftops if this so-called 'Patriot Act' were introduced during Clinton's admin.

But because it's Bush's admin., they'll step in line like lemmings to their own destruction.

Your post is exactly what I have experienced. I hope that Jim Rob is aware of how his site has been high-jacked in this way in an effort to accomplish goals contrary to the stated objectives of this site.

And, you're right -- it is not effective. It does not change people's opinions. But it does have two pernicious effects -- 1) it makes this site an unpleasant and less constructive place to be, and 2) it gives false courage to the administration to persist in negative behavior which it would have have undertaken or would have quickly abandoned but for this encouragement.

The ONE issue the Republicans had the edge on was National Security

Oh please, there are many issues for which the Republican *party* position is closer to the national position. Abortion, same sex marriage, gun control etc, etc. Not all Republicans are on board with on those issues, just as not (quite) all D's are hostile to basic American values. But if you aren't and you'll vote R unless you know the D candidate very well indeed.

Besides which, many Republicans, particularly in the Senate were on the "right" side of the issue as well.

President Bush wasn't, but Bush isn't' running for reelection, not in 2006 nor 2008.

"This is how liberty ends, with thunderous applause."

Glad to see I'm not the only one who's thinking that.

William Pitt once said,"Necessity is the plea of every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants, it is the creed of slaves."

At least the Patriot Act will keep The Children safe.

"Please cite for me three examples of where the Patriot Act has been used to infringe on the Constitutional Rights of Americans."

Umm, it happens every day. The administration even tried to hold an AMERICAN CITIZEN (Jose Padilla, i believe his name was) as an enemy combatant in military custody, and deny him a fair trial.

Then, thank God, the SCTOUS declared that unconstitutional, 8-1.
