Government brainwashing at work.

You see, as long as we brainwash kids into thinking they came from animals, then they will act like animals.

Or we can reject secular science, teach our kids God is in charge and go back to living in the Middle Ages, or like the Taliban.

Thanks, but I'll keep my indoor plumbing, modern medicine and computer.

Because of leftists and secularists who believe in nothing but socialism are/have taken over the education institutions. If we are nothing, came from nothing, are better than nothing, than what does it matter? Other countries are beating us beacause maybe they haven't been educated/indoctrinated enough by secularists and humanists to "realize" that all we are animals.

Home schoolers MUST teach their children about evolution.

Now who's trying to use the government to force a certain behavior?

Isn't all science "critical thinking" anyway? Seems redundant to call for it in the curriculum

They'll have company in a few sandy countries.

Remember what I said in post #7?

I think this may be a new record. It only took 16 posts for an evo to compare Christians to Mooselimbs.

" If we are nothing, came from nothing, are better than nothing, than what does it matter?"

Evolutionary theory does not say:

1) We are nothing.
2) We came from nothing

The *are better than nothing* doesn't make sense; why is being better than nothing bad?

Evolutionary theory has as much to say about how to live your life as does gravitational theory. That is to say nothing, positive or negative. Scientific theories don't deal with the purpose of life.

Is there something factually incorrect about that remark? You should be happy that there will be others sharing in blissful ignorance.

One requires a particular statement of faith and the other an incompatible and contrary statement of faith.

I can agree with half of your statement. I've seen easily a dozen statements of faith from creationist/antievolution organizations (which typically include scientific points as well as theological ones). I recently posted one here. The Institute for Creation Research even requires that its staff resign their statement annually!

But I've never seen or heard of a mandatory affirmation of faith (or scientific views) associated with a mainstream science/evolutionist organization. Maybe you can help with that part?

"as a man thinks in his heart so is he", It is very simple, it's called behavioral science. Tell a child that he is a mistake and you will effect the way he looks at himself. tell a child he came from a monkey and it will effect the way he thinks of himself. The best example of this is the teenage premarital sex rate. since the kids believe that they are nothing but high order animals, then they should give into their urges instead of controlling them. The schools promote this idea and believe it, so they hand out condoms. There are so many statistics that I could throw out to prove this line of reasoning that space is not available. Just do a simple study: compare the behavior of children taught in a Christian school that teaches Creation to the behavior of children in a non-Christian school that teaches evolution. If you can't understand this, maybe you need to evolve more.

I wonder how many posts before someone compares Christians to the Taliban or Iranian Mullahs?

Probably right after the post where someone says that only God should understand the universe.

It's not my fault that you're incapable of telling the difference between genuine Christianity and Islamofascists. Furthermore, I have no intent to debate it with you. All I want is for you to come and say you view Christians and Muslims as essentially the same. That way it's out in the open where everyone will know that that's what you think.

Every government in the history of the world has forced certain behaviors. We use the government force to prevent utilities from charging monopoly prices. We use government force to get people to pay for their policing and national defense. We use government force to stop people from committing fraud.

Spare me the anarchist nonsense.

"The Task Force finds that the most reliable information is produced by recognized, respected professional organizations which adhere to a strict standard of objective, peer-reviewed scientific study and which represent the consensus of the scientific community."

Well, I thought the operative word here was "scientific". And no group promotes junk science like attorneys. They can find a well credentialed expert that will support virtually any theory. But I digress.

The quote in question came from a 2005 government study on abortion. Now, you pro-choice and pro-lifers, which side did they come down on after that statement?

The "Clergy Letter Project". 10,000 clergymen endorse evolution.

Again, without knowing which professional organization and something about them and their members, it is impossible to say.

The only groups on earth promoting creationism are fundamentalist Christians and Muslims. Can you think of any others? If not, then why should we avoid mentioning a fact?

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not an advocate of public education, just some form of government accredidation or certification of certain minimal standards in science, civices, history, geography, and literature.

What's a few more idiots? We have plenty already. As far as employability goes, this issue has a self-corrective element as well.

And creation science most definitely should NOT receive any government accredidation. Home schoolers MUST teach their children about evolution. If they want to teach them some stupid "alternatives," well, then there's not much we can do to stop them. But their children must have a solid grasp of evolutionary theory.

My children better and their teachers should - or I'll choose better teachers. My doctor should - or I'll choose a better doctor. Is it sad an unfair for children to be filled with ignorance by their parents? Yeah. Tough. Let it be.

It really damages your side's credibility when all we here is 'the IDrs are trying to use the government to force the teaching of ideas that may disagree with evolution' and then you say something like this.

Can't have it both ways.

The Catholic church accepts evolution. Do you think that all Catholics believe they are "nothing but high order animals"? Or perhaps they just have a different understanding than you of what Genesis means?
