Vice President Cheney Due in Newark Today
Associated Press ^ | Monday, March 20, 2006

Posted on 03/20/2006 7:01:13 AM PST by Calpernia

Vice President Cheney will be the main attraction at a fundraiser in Newark tonight for Republican U-S Senate hopeful Tom Kean (kayn) Junior.

Kean expects to raise about 200-thousand dollars at the event.

Some 200 guests are to pay one-thousand dollars each to hear Cheney. And those responsible for bringing in ten-thousand dollars in donations can get their picture taken with the vice president.

Cheney's visit comes as the son of two-term governor is scrambling for money to compete against the Democratic incumbent, Robert Menendez.

Menendez has more than four (m) million dollars compared to more than 860-thousand for Kean.

The state senator represents parts of Essex, Morris, Somerset and Union counties.

I caught Cheney on Deface the Nation yesterday...
too bad he didn't itemize all the advances and progress we've made in Iraq over the past three years...Scheiffer is about as lame as they come.
The Bush administration needs to hire a PR firm!

This is what I never understand about the NJGOP. I send money to the RNC and the Jersey Republicans. I regularly receive e-mails from NJGOP. If I had known of this event, I would have been happy to pay to see Cheney. That's a once in a lifetime opportunity. Oh well.

I'm not convinced that NJGOP is not really RINO.

"I am not voting for Kean, he is as RINO as they come. If you wanted a Repub Senator, should have gone for Schundler in '00.
Our/Your lose if you didn't vote for him then or against Forrester.
We will never take back seats with RINO's like Forrester and Kean.
Losers."

Kean Jr. is better than Menendez and about the best you can get elected in NY. Besides, we may need might need a somewhat surprise pickup like in November to keep the Senate if things goes really really bad. I'm not expecting that but its still a possiblity. We don't want the Dems in control of either house of Congress. Bush will have two years of investigations and hell if that happens. And being pratical, in many elections you never have a perfect candidate. President Bush himself wasn't a perfect candidate and isn't a perfect president. I hate his immigration policy and the huge spending is allowing but that certainly didn't keep me from voting for him in 2004 because I knew Kerry would be a terrible disaster as POTUS. Looking at Kean and Menendez and the current political situation, there is no reason why a conservative wouldn't vote for Kean. Often, you can't get the perfect guy so you have to go with the best possible.

Yeah that's constructive.

I just can't figure some people out. Why you cut off your nose to spite your face is beyond me.

A RINO senator is 1000% better than an ultra liberal. Kean might not be a true Conservative but we can count his vote at least 51% of the time. Menendez will never support any initiatives that Conservatives favor.
