Does anybody care that Idi Amin (I mean John Stroger) may get re-elected to Cook County Board President again? This piece of trash raised every tax and fee he could get his hands on. He did more to cause financial distress to me and my family than Governor Blago. The worst part about it is that he may be dead or unable to perform his duties after the election due to several recent strokes. If he is elected it will be in the primary (no chance for a Pubbie to win) over a squeaky clean out of the Democratic Machine Forrest Claypool. If he does win, and can't take office, the dims get to pick his successor. The county board merely rubber stamps all budgets put forward by the Machine backed President, and they ALWAYS raise taxes and fees to pay for idiotic new spending programs and to close 'budget shortfalls' that happen every year. Remember the Governor has to pass legislation, however stupid, through the state house and senate... the County Board President has no such check or balance, and can raise your property taxes and fees higher and faster than the Governor can.

I URGE ALL COOK COUNTY REPUBLICANS TO PICK A DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY BALLOT AND VOTE FOR CLAYPOOL.

The race for governor is over, no poll shows enough support for any candidate challenging the RINO Judy Barr Topinka. Forget the Governors race until the general election. JBT will beat Blago and it will be a small step up. NONE of the good conservative candidates will win the primary... don't waste your vote, and DO cast a vote in a race that matters. The County Board has much more effect on your day to day lives in Cook County than the Governor in Springfield does.

The governors race is NOT over. Remember December 2003, when the mouth from Vermont was supposed to have the Dem Presidential nomination in the bag.

You should have seen the look on the election judge's face when I asked for a Democratic ballot. She knows me and was all set to hand me the Republican ballot. I explained the above logic to her and she agreed I had a point. She commisserated on the split of the conservative vote willl likely put JBT at the top of the primary - "I just don't like that woman" was her final comment. Getting rid of Stroger will have as much effect on your tax bill in Cook County as putting Oberweis in the governor's seat, and Claypool has a much better chance.

WTF! With an attitude like this, no wonder the GOP is in trouble. This is the time to make our voices heard in Illinois, otherwise we will continue to get the leadership we deserve. It is our patriotic duty to vote and let our voices be heard, even in a losing effort. It still makes a big difference if Judy wins 90% to 10% vs 52% 48%. At least then she'll have to worry about conservatives staying home during the general election. Also, the gap is not so large that she can't be beaten in the primary. Remember that voters in the Republican primary tend to be more conservative than voters in the general election.
