You load 16 tons and what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt. St. Peter don't ya call me 'cause I can't go, I owe my soul to the company store.

Oh! The clotes need washin' and the fire won't start. Kids all cryin' and your breakin' my heart.

Whole darn place is fallin' apart. Maybe things'll get a little better in the mornin' maybe things'll bet a little better

Work your fingers to the bone and whaddy ya get? Boney fingers, boney fingers

They're closin' down the textile mill across the railroad tracks, foreman says these jobs are goin' boys and they ain't comin' back, to your hometown.

Don't know how long this thread may last but, here goes.

Was wondering if anyone out there has been through a 'new' Chapter 7. I haven't filed yet, talked to a lawyer but through the 'mumbo-jumbo' , 'jumbo-mumbo' lawyer speak and the sunshine pumping, I don't know what to expect.

Bought this carry out pizza shop a few years ago and since then Ford left town, Marconi Industries closed, a bunch of smaller businesses have left also.

The only thing we seem to have plenty of now is crime. Got the place up with a realtor but everybody is afraid to come to this town.

So, bankruptcy may be inevitable. Anyone with advice or experience with this would be greatly appreciated.

No charge for the songs....

A BTT is the best I can do. This needs a higher-powered brain than that of a broke-down system administrator...

With the absense of money in your neck of the woods, perhaps going to the barter system would be worthwhile. You could start a pizzas for crime sale. Thieves could trade stolen goods for your pizzas and then you could put those goods on eBay.

First of all, I'm sorry you are going through all this. My prayers are with you.

I hope you get help with the bankruptcy, but I am not the person to do that. I'm sure there are plenty of others around here.

Once you have figured out how to wind down this particular phase in your life, start looking for options and ways to start over new, using the lessons learned from this time around, whatever they may be. This is an opportunity for a fresh start, and new horizons.

Keep us updated!

The only thing we seem to have plenty of now is crime.

Open a liquor store.

Too bad you can't outsource that crime to Washinton, D.C.

People simply do not understand that outsourcing is not a win/win. Individuals, families, communities are devistated by this.

Somewhere in China, the communist party bosses are celebrating. What used to pass for conservatives are celebrating right along with them.

Even with the new Chap 7 laws, if you are truly broke and you can convince your creditors that you are truly broke, you walk away and that's that.

Under the old law, people would max out what was left of their credit lines on personal items and then hide behind Chapter 7. There was a LOT of scamming going on.

The new law will shine a flashlight up your @ss to make sure you are really penniless, but if you are really and truly broke, don't sweat it. Bankrutptcy sucks, but they can't get blood from a turnip.

A guy here actually did that, Cal Morton, ran Morton's BBQ Hut on the south side of town... did pretty good for himself. I used to joke "A free TV with every slab of ribs."

He had a lincoln, a corvette, a big 'ol boat... didn't do too bad for himself.. till the IRS caught up with him.

I was born one mornin' when the sun didn't shine.
Picked up my shovel and I walked to the mine.
Loaded sixteen ton of number nine coal,
The boss man said, "Well bless my soul!"

I was born one mornin' it was drizzlin' rain.
Fightin' and trouble are my middle names.
I was raised in the den by an old mother lion,
Ain't no high-toned woman make me walk the line.

Well, you see me comin', better step aside.
A lot of men didn't, and a lot of men died.
One fist of iron, the other of steel,
If the left one don't get you then the right one will!

Gee... that last line sounds a bit like the IRS ...!

I sing songs like this around the house while working.

My kids, not knowing anything musical earlier than the 80's (except what I play) think I'm singing original stuff I'm making up as I go!

They think I'm either brilliant or insane!

Well that's an idea Dan. How about developing a proposal for the city council based on your running a private prison filled with what used to gainfully employed U.S. citizens.
