What's the state political climate like? Is it likely he'll be recalled? He's up for re-election in 2010, but if he goes for the pres nomination, isn't there a republican rule, if you run, you have to give up your seat?

Let's go ahead and let him declare his candidacy and then swoop in with a strong move to make him give up his Senate seat to run. Ideas?

When LBJ ran for VP, The Texas Democrat mafia gave him special dispensation to run for VP and the senate on the same ticket in Texas.
