Police: Youth Minister Attacks Boy After Dodgeball Hit
The Indy Channel ^ | March 31, 2006 | AP

LIBERTY, Mo. -- A youth minister in Missouri has been charged with assault for allegedly knocking down a 16-year-old boy and kicking him in the groin during a dodgeball game.

Authorities said the teen had missed David M. Boudreaux, 27, with one throw, but then knocked his glasses off with another.

The boy apologized, but authorities said Boudreaux pushed him backwards and then kicked him in the groin when the teen got up again.

Court records said the boy suffered whiplash, post-concussion syndrome, had blood in his urine and other injuries.

Prosecutors said Boudreaux later apologized, but an administrator at Crescent Lake Christian Academy said he's been placed on administrative leave.

Why was the idiot wearing his glasses during a game of dodgeball?

Good question. I wonder if he was a participant or supervisor/coach. The article doesn't make that clear. When the media produces a story like this I always have to consider the source. It's not certain what the fact are but you can believe that whatever is reported by the msm is not factual.

I wonder if he's getting paid while on administrative leave?

Even if he is, I'm sure it won't be for long, and won't make a dent in the civil damages judgement the kid will shortly be getting against him.

There's a difference between a 16yr old and a 25 yr old...in maturity, physical attributes, coordination, and on and on...

The YMinister wasn't a big bad meanie, he was the biggest sissy of them all, after getting hit he pushed down a kid, and then kicked him in the balls...a 16 yr old kid.

he kid knocked his glasses off, i.e., was aiming to hit him smack in the face despite glasses.

Good attempt at spin, but the facts get in your way. The kid couldn't even hit the guy with the first throw (probably a 10 to 12 square foot target), but you think we will fall for your made up story that his accuracy instantly improved until he could hit a target of a few square inches?

and kicking him in the groin during a dodgeball game.

Never play dodgeball when the other guy is playing dodgeballs.

What spin? The kid hit the minister in the face. He knocked his glasses off on the second try. The minister lost his temper and kicked the kid.

The kid was 16. The one that broke my son's tooth was only 12.

If you can't see the kid was out of bounds, there's nothing more to say.

Pushed him over and kicked him in the testicles. The kid may have been out of bounds, but the minister's reaction seems unjustifiable. Not a sissy here; I just don't think getting hit in the face with a dodgeball justifies kicking the person in the balls, especially for someone who's 25.

Oh, I agree. There is plenty of blame to go around here.

Ministers have to deal with difficult and selfish people all the time. It's part of the job. For him to blow up like that indicates he has no business in the ministry.

Are you familiar with the game of dodge ball?

The purpose of the game is for the player with the ball to throw the ball at the other players, attempting to hit one. (The most common format is for two players to throw the ball into the crowd of other players, attacking from opposite sides).

The other players move around from side and DUCK and jump to try to avoid being hit by the thrown ball.

Two pointers for you

1) If you don't want to get hit, don't play that particular game.

2) If you don't want to get hit in the face, don't duck.

It sounds like you've already jumped on this liberal band wagon:

There is nothing liberal about it. It is unsportsman like to stand a couple of feet from a person and smack them as hard as you can in the face with the ball.

The object of dodgeball is to hit the other person with the ball. It is not to maim them.

To quote Ronald Reagan, "There you go again." Making up facts to fit your theory. You might make a good fiction writer, but debaters should stick to the truth.

Nothing in the story about the adult getting maimed. He got his glasses knocked off. If anyone got maimed, it was the kid that got kicked in the 'groin'.

And if you think that a kick in the groin is the equivalent of getting your glasses knocked off, you are obviously not a man.

Nope, I'm not a man.

And I was thinking of the episode I recounted with my son, not the minister. Breaking a front adult tooth is a maiming. And it could easily have happened to the minister also.

But hitting a person at full power in the face can maim them.

Hitting a person in the face is not acceptable. Or kicking them in the groin.

I assure you there is nothing wrong with my powers of logic. But go ahead. Let your kids play games where they whap people full strength in the head with balls. But prepare for a lawsuit when someone ends up with a permanent injury.

Dodgeball Hit >>

maybe the liberals running the school system have a point. I know that many school no longer allow dodge ball because of the violence associated with it and the high rate of injuries.

We played with those dark red rubber balls that went "poooongggg" when they hit you. The worst I ever saw was a kid with a red face for a couple of hours, and maybe a bloody nose. There is no way you can really get hurt unless you use a harder ball like a soccer or volleyball.

We played all boys teams, and personally I think it was a fun and exciting game. The big guys didn't always win either, they may have thrown the hardest but the skinny little ginks that could zip around and move like a wet noodle always seemed to be there in the end also, I think actually "getting in the game" and being aggressive was more important than a strong arm was.
