The US Department of Justice (DoJ) and the office of the White House Counsel are preparing a draft document laying out the President's wartime authority to remain in office past 2008, The Register has learned.
The scheme is described as an emergency "continuity presidency," made necessary by the extraordinary circumstances and unique challenges of protecting the United States from the threat of international terrorism.

Happy April Fool's Day!
Shhh...don't tell anyone!
LOL! Almost had me posting "Well I better take those Spanish lessons after all."
Almost!
Someone HAS to post this at the DUmp!
Remember when some of us were concerned that BJ Cintoon would try to find a way to extend his term of office? I can't remember what the scenarios were.
But lefties reading this might not catch on to the publication date, and go bonkers...
Heck No. He needs to stay on the ranch. Eight years is enough. That is why they have term limits. Clinton was four years too long and it is turning out that Bush is too.
I must admit that I was starting to wonder as inauguration day 2001 approached and we still didn't have a winner.
What makes it likely to happen is that Bill Clinton is supporting him because of a protocol in which he becomes a "co-president".
Appropriate, I think . . .
Anyone else smell a hoax/parody?
It's no parody. The real bizarre part is that Dubya's leaving Laura for Hillary too.
Anyone else notice the date?
I win! I win!
I'd have been quicker had I been a Three Stooges fan to begin with.
I for one support the Bush administration in this goal. One war, one President. Support our leader, support the troops.
OK, I didn't really win, Momaw Nadon called it first.
It's a democratic measure though. The one that also allowed for naturalized citizens to also be allowed POTUS status.
The dems wanted to get slick Willy back in office as a prelude to Hillary taking over. They allowed for naturalized citizens as a caveat to the GOP.(Thinking any of us really wanted 'the Governator' to run for POTUS)
Imagine "President Soros"... frightening.
What I have posted in Conservative chat rooms when a drooling liberal comes in is something to the effect: Haven't you heard. GW has admitted he "stole" the 2000 election. So he is admitting that and is running for his second term allowed by the Constitution in 2008. You can almost hear the blood pressure go up in them.
Clinton was eight years too long.
All this because of news this morning that President Bush is drawing up plans for a possible third term in office and both the republican congress and the Supreme court are warming to the idea.
