Back in the days of WWII there were traditions which should have never been thrown away by the flower kids of the 60's. Among these was the rule that disputes stop at water's edge - another that ex-Presidents did not interfere with, or criticize, subsequent presidencies.

And another - the one I miss most of all - that when we are at war, our soldiers and sailors and their commanders receive our unconditional and united support as first priority.

And who is commander-in-chief but the President?

Back then, the president was not above criticism – but a line was drawn beyond which neither the media nor Hollywood nor the public would go. That line has almost disappeared since the 1960’s – Carter and Clinton both ignore tradition and criticize Bush routinely. Hollywood, the academia and the press could care less about a united foreign policy or supporting the military – many of them see the military top-to-bottom as the enemy – and speak of them with demeaning caricatures.

So here we are with veterans – Freepers – conservatives – frothing at the mouth with contempt for not only illegal immigration – but the illegal immigrants themselves - and carrying that hate over to the commander-in-chief whereby the contempt will trickle down to every man and woman standing duty. And they do this as if he has deserted them, when he has been absolutely consistent from day one on the immigration issue. And we helped to elect him - twice.

Look around – who benefits from hatefulness? A.N.S.W.E.R. – Democrats – liberals, socialists, moral relativists and so on.

This article is particularly troubling to me – once again making a mockery of Harriet Meirs whose primary contribution to the Supreme Court had the conservative base not rebelled, would have been Spiritual in nature. That should have been of great importance to the conservative base which is primarily Christian and has been long praying to God for a healing of the high court. But it appears they didn’t trust God either – nor did their collective memories stretch to Numbers 11, i.e. malcontent is disbelief .

In sum, I assert that conservative Christians – especially veterans - have no excuse for fearfulness, hang-wringing and woe-mongering.

Some coalition, 43% & 49%

It was enough. And you're right about Perot. Clintoon couldn't have won without him. But Bubba could lie through his teeth with a smile, and people would know he was lying and still vote for him. Hillary polarizes and divides. She's a lightning rod of incendiary rhetoric on both sides. She does not stand a chance in '08.

Immigration "Solutions" (Thomas Sowell Slams Open Borders Lobby's Insult Of American People Alert)

How about, "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition," or "God helps those who help themselves"? Do recommend calling in for final defensive fires on our own co-ordinates only when we are actually being overrun, instead of when its already danger close?

I have been consistent since when "Slate" first promoted Dubya as a candidate for Prez(1999).. I have wavered slightly hopeing that I was WRONG about him(Bush).. Globalism is a problem, both Clinton, Bush, and Carter seem to be advocates of Globalism(One world gov't)..

(Adjusting my tin foil hat).. There, thats better..

Importing multi millions(as a start) of proto democrats and RINOs both Clinton and Bush agree on.. also, Carter.. To deny the red flags waving on that issue alone is beyond me.. maybe I'm weak.. so be it.. I am..

On the other hand the Bible predicts One World Government.. (Anti-Christ and all that) and if the prophecy is correct IT WILL HAPPEN.. That don't mean I have to like it.. and don't..

I revere loyalty for humans beyond many things.. but loyalty and concern misapplied is promoting the problem, ENABLING.. But then, I'm not "into" geo-politics, I'm into universal-politics.. This "King" has no clothes.. hes quite naked.. For the life of me I can't see the difference between a BIG Givernment republican and a democrat.. I calls them as I sees them.. here, on free republic.. For that is what free republic is all about in my experience.. Here, I would hope, PollyAnna views of the intriques of geo-political politics is mocked.. Not, as I said, that it will do any good.. universally.. For I have faith in another, not George Bush.. As Gamaliel said, what will be, will be..

Please excuse the omission. That should have been:

Do you recommend calling in for final defensive fires on our own co-ordinates only when we are actually being overrun, instead of when its already danger close?

BTW, final defensive fires is more currently known as final protective fire, a prearranged line of fire used to destroy an enemy attack, usually planned to cover dead space in a maneuver unit final protective line.

It's usually the preplanned, friendly mortar and artillery fire in front of a unit in a defensive position. Here's danger close.

I live in California, in the San Francisco "Bay Area". I have read numbers of estimates up to 20 million in the U.S. - having passed through many States, I believe this is probably more on the mark. Living in California, Southern California and the S.F. greater Bay Area have huge numbers, of these they are not the typical "picking grapes" crowd at all, and many of these are criminal, political (leftist), young "Mex-Rap" types, they do NOT fit the stereotype of the old media at all. Some of these hang out in front of home improvement stores, or gas stations, in large numbers, and businesses in violation of US laws illegally use this labor to cheat the taxpayers and undercut the going wages to the demise of many honest hard working Americans. These businesses are involved in political corruption in alignment with corrupt developers (who will now use corrupt domain laws to declare areas “blight”) to build houses and condos which actually do not met regulations because those who are doing the building (illegals) have less than a sixth grade education and are delivering less-than-standard edifices and construction which is not inspected simply because the politicians do not want the public to know just how much illegal labor is used by such developers who donate to these politicians campaigns. Democratic Party operatives use the same illegals in massive voter fraud, I have personally seen the vans picking them up and taking them to voting places. Outside the Bay Area and major cities of L.A. and San Diego, you do have the agricultural workers, the big agra-business is also involved in massive irregularities through such illegal use of roundabout labor, which is now risking our health in some cases. There are also known cases of the ownership of such big agra using the (illegal) women as their personal sex slaves and such, the owners have personal relationships with influential illegals who run the human cargo about, these “cargoes” which are an “aristocracy” of select illegals own very, very expensive, custom, Chevrolet Silverado and Ford F150 and F250 trucks, and some of them are now driving Hummers and are becoming increasingly involved in the marijuana trade. Young “hot shot” Americans in the valley work with these illegal “cargoes”, praising their trucks and encouraging the corruption, they don’t give a damn about laws and it is sad to see, increasingly, better off American farmers in the valley becoming corrupt, in almost every case these are younger ones (in the mid-thirties) who were having a bad go of it until they decided to “go along to get along” and are now deep into the entire illegal alien “cargo”.

""How about Kelo? Have we heard a peep from Bush about that outrage? How about legislation to moot it? No?""

we've been through that a million times here..it is a state issue, not a federal one.

You are right I did forget. The tax cut was outstanding. Nevertheless President Bush obviously believes in big government. Perhaps the limited government Republicans only make up about 1/3 of all Republicans so I am expecting too much.

You might have a point. Regardless of the true origins of Bush's liberalism, the point is that he is a liberal. When a conservative mentions Bush's Medicare boondoggle, his runaway spending, and his nomination of Harriet Myers, many Freepers twist themselves into pretzels trying to show that these are actually conservative ideas. But now, Bush's relentless coddling of illegal aliens and his slanderous attacks on the American worker have made a lot of Freepers realize that he is a full-tilt liberal.
