FWIW, the swastika has historically been frequently referred to as the hooked or crooked cross. The cross is an ancient pre-Christian symbol, and the swastika is just one variant of it. After the Greek cross, it is the most common variant of the cross outside the Christian tradition.

It had no particularly racist or genocidal connotations before the 1920s. In most eastern religions, it still has no such connotations and is very widely used.

1. I'm astounded that there remains at least one university that
that will actually FIRE a tenured faculty member for misconduct.
Especially a liberal faculty member.

2. I'm only saddened that this harpy has made her reputation.
If she plays her cards right, she'll grow rich from her new-found
reputation as "A Martyr For Leftist Causes".

It isn't joking my friend, it is nasty bigotry by the sniveling liberals for those that don't share their degenerate opinions.

Unfortunately, she isn't fired. She was already scheduled to retire at the end of the month before this incident. She has been placed on paid leave and will retire as scheduled. I am guessing she will keep her benefits and pay.

She may be charged with a felony, however.

There's a beautiful old house on Route 6A in Yarmouth on Cape Cod that has a swastika worked into the brickwork on its chimney.

The house is probably about 150 years old, and I used to get a kick out of driving by it and watching the progress of the vines that the current owners were desperately trying to tease up the side of the chimney to conceal the swastika.

Dr. Christopher Wilkey, the faculty adviser to Students Together Against Racism (STAR), "said that he had hoped the university would be more understanding when it came to handling Jacobsen". Suppose STAR put up crosses to commemorate those who died in slave ships en route to this country. If people tore down those crosses, would Wilkey be so "understanding"?

"The WNBA is a contradiction."

I guess you just don't appreciate the beauty of the "power layup" :)

Unfortunately, she isn't fired.

Thanks for the update.
It was a nice dream to think, if but for a moment...
that sanity had actually prevailed at one of our institutions of
"higher learning".
But, alas, it was just a dream.

After seeing Harvards Lawrence Summers get the boot for expressing
an opinion (not his own) showed that no matter how elite the school,
it's the inmates that are in charge.

"told the Kentucky Enquirer she had become so emotional at the sight of a field of white crosses planted as a symbolic cemetery for aborted children, that her strong feelings justified her action"

Well that makes it all better - what is she a 3 year old?

You can joke about hillbillies and rednecks in my home state all you want but ultimately, we still know the difference between right and wrong.

Damn straight. If Jacobsen was teaching in the northeast or on the left coast, there would be stonewalling, hemming & hawing and general obstruction that would have bought Jacobsen years in which let it move from memory.

Good! She deserved that sacking, though I'm sure she'll parlay it into sympathy for herself with her fellow travellers because she'll claim she was denied her first amendment right to "express her opinion".

I would have loved a "Women's Studies" degree when I was in school. In spring, all the co-eds would lay out on The Hill in their skimpy swimsuits. All of us we "Studying" women then. Man the images in my mind!

MOURNING MURDERED BABIES = GENOCIDE

What a spooky kook - not uncommon with them, though.

THIS is going to send the Left into absolute screaming hysterics! The one absolute sacrosanct place where you were always 100% safe to spout Marxist drivel was as a Professor on a College Campus. If they are starting to suffer the consequences now too, the rest of 'em are about to enter primal scream therapy!
