George W. Bush, for the most part, responded as a heroic Churchill, not waiting for AQ to hit us with WMDs, but to do what needed to be done and risk having his entire presidential legacy put up to constant attack by the libs for doing the right thing. If Churchill had been Prime Minister of Britain in 1936 and launched a preemptive strike to topple Hitler's government and reconstruct Germany as a democracy, I'm not sure the historians would have forgiven him yet - or figured out how many lives he had saved by taking action.

That's for sure. I often joke that FDR, as Navy Undersecretary, visited the front in France in 1918, and was invited to fire a few artillery rounds. Had his gun had 20 more miles!! it was on a trajectory to hit a field hospital where a corporal Hitler was recovering from wounds.
