I saw his handwritten accident report on another thread. He was drunk.

Clearly, and he was drunk again this time. A successful coverup means that he will be allowed to continue driving and someone may be killed. Even that won't stop them.

Don't get upset at Patrick for this - it was the Capitol Police that covered for him.

The interim chief and his staff should all be fired.

As far as I know, the police did not charge her with anything and the question is: WHY NOT?

US Constitution, Article 1, Section 6. He cannot be detained or even questioned if he is on his way to or from a debate in the Congress.

Do you really think that the voters who vote for Kennedys are going to pay attention to anything a Kennedy does?

That's fine & dandy, but there *was* no session in Congress at 3 AM!

How is a Police Officer to determine that, conclusively, in the field? He is not even permitted to detain the Congressman while he finds out.

The privledge granted under Article 1 Secion 6 is a very broad one. One would hope that a Congressman would have respect for the law and the Constitution, and would not abuse the privledge. But we're talking about Patches Kennedy here, so respect for the law is obviously not a consideration.

Yet another reason to never send a Kennedy to Congress. As if we needed one more...

Those are the FIRST things that would be shredded along with all memory of the police at the scene.

I wonder if any hit and run accidents were reported in that area that night? Maybe the drunk was running away FROM something instead TO something.

"I have the utmost respect for the United States Capitol Police and the job they do to keep Members of Congress and the Capitol Complex safe," he continued.

Well, with this comment, I guess Mr. Kennedy just got on Cynthia McKinney's bad side.

When someone is driving under the influence of prescribed medication, isn't that labeled, driving while impaired? He most surely fit that description.

"I think it is stipulated in the Federal Code (or the Constitution) that a Rep. or Sen. cannot be detained while en route to a vote."

I heard that on the radio this morning. Maybe that is why his mentioned it to the police? To try and escape from being detained by the police?

" I, ah, was so exhausted, ah, from all the voting that day, ah, I went home and, ah, fell asleep in my clothes"

Yeah, that's the ticket.

This is the legal defination of DUI DWI:

Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Definition

driving under the influence (DUI) definition – a person is guilty of DUI if he or she drives or is in actual physical control of a motor vehicle and is under the influence of alcoholic beverages or any chemical or controlled substance to the extent that his or her mental faculties are impaired or when his or her blood alcohol level (BAC) is above the legal limit for the state.

He's admitted that he was.

I'm not sure but I would think that the police would be advised when Congress is in session, to tailor the security level.

The only hope is to find a real handsome conservative named Kennedy and confuse the pre-alzheimer voters.

Make sure he's not squeaky clean. He's got to be believable as a Kennedy. Make sure he's doing the 14-year-old babysitter or has a substance problem so he can "pass".

I'm not a Kennedy.

Wear that as a badge of honor, my son.
