WASHINGTON, May 9 Strengthening a pragmatic rapprochement, Rupert Murdoch has agreed to give a fund-raiser this summer for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, the latest sign of cooperation between the conservative media mogul and the Democratic lawmaker who has often been a prime target of his newspaper and television outlets.
Asked about her relationship with Mr. Murdoch, Mrs. Clinton described him as simply "my constituent," and she played down the significance of the fund-raiser. Both sides said that Mr. Murdoch and Mrs. Clinton were joining forces for the good of New York, where Mr. Murdoch's $60 billion News Corporation employs about 5,000 workers.
"I am very gratified that he thinks I am doing a good job," Mrs. Clinton said in the Capitol on Tuesday, according to a transcript made available by her office after word of the fund-raising event was first reported by The Financial Times.
Yet the developing relationship between Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Murdoch who has built an empire in part on the strength of media outlets like Fox News and The New York Post that delight in skewering the Clintons has drawn special attention, perplexing some political analysts and infuriating some liberals already suspicious of Mrs. Clinton's centrist positioning. Although she is ostensibly raising money for her re-election to the Senate this year, she is widely considered to be laying the groundwork for a presidential bid in 2008.

Is this a sick joke or what?
And Hillary Clinton will run for the US Senate from one of the most populated states in the union without having to answer a single question from a reporter in NYC. So much for the reported toughness of the press corp in NY. Bunch of p-whipped paid off pansies.
Murdoch thinks Hillary will be President in 2008 and he is backing his belief. That is about it IMO.
maybe this is to secure her going into the No Spin Zone...
Murdoch has never been secret that his personal beliefs are more liberal than his networks. I think this a big to do about nothing really.
Have another look at Fox News. Where there is feminism, socialism lurks.
Madame Cankles doesn't need the money, so Murdoch is free to triangulate her to the limit against her own base. Wait until Gore enters the race. Murdoch will give him unlimited prime-time. Same reason.
"Murdoch thinks Hillary will be President in 2008 and he is backing his belief. That is about it IMO."
Perhaps a conservative boycott of Fox TV would show him that cozying up to Hillary is not a good idea.
Rupert Murdoch and Hillary Clinton are both amoral creatures forging an alliance of convenience. The former is a plutocrat who is chiefly interested in growing and preserving his fortune, the latter is a power hungry politician. The ideological stripes of both persons change to suit the political environment of the day. Rupert and Hillary don't care about anything but themselves. This is true of most people who make it to the top of the social pyramid.
You'd be boycotting most US companies, because they all seem to donate to both sides in many cases.
