Please send me your blender...

ROFL!! Blenders are popular on this thread! Just to be clear, I want the one that sounds better than Elliott. You can have this one.

"I find it hard to believe that Americans are lead to watch such drivel..."

LOL, that's what hubby calls it "American Drivel". But seriously, people watched a lot of comedies, etc. during WWII. The show is harmless fun, it emphasizes hard work, it is a meritocracy (depending on the whims of the voters, of course), and it is based on the American ideal that any little boy or girl can grow up to be a success. I don't see the harm, quite frankly.

"Survivor is watching a bunch of people do stunts in miserable conditions for prizes..."

The problem with survivor is that it is also about lying, back stabbing, and the ends justifying the means, the desired end being to "just win, baby".

A much, much better show is "The Amazing Race". On that show there is little opportunity to back-stab or undermine one's fellow contestants. It is also somewhat educational.

"Except maybe Paris...She'll go to Broadway..."

Hubby said: don't you think someone is already planning a revival of "The Wiz" with Paris as Dorothy?

I certainly hope so! I saw that on Bway with the gal who did so good, sigh, now her name is lost to me and I am too lazy to look it up, but it was awful when they did the movie with the, how old? Diana Ross in the lead. Paris would be PEFECT in that RIGHT NOW!

What does he mean?

I don't know. I don't watch the show, either.

Chris was definitely my fav....but we don't vote....so whatever happens, happens. At this point I'd like to see Elliot or Taylor get the crown...Miss Mcphee is too beauty pageant for me, and though she sings very well her voice is not at all memorable.

It's a waste of precious time, more than anything. For the losers, it's the American nightmare. The three judges are the epitome of asinine and at least one is nasty at the job.

From the start, I heard Joe Cocker, Ray Charles and a little Elvis in Taylor Hicks. I usually listen to the contestants with my eyes closed. After all, when one listens to a CD, you listen, you don't see McPhee's breasts(or her HUGE football player shoulders) or Elliotts bad teeth. And, having said that, one can hardly distinguish one voice from another if heard on the radio EXCEPT for Taylor Hicks.
When one attempts to analyze Hicks' popularity, think Elvis. He gyrated, he moved all over the stage and he drove the older generation mad. Hicks is UNIQUE. The rest are more of the same-old-same-old...

Black chicks who all sound the same...
Rock star wannabees who always end up screaming at some point in a song...
Pathetic white guys who can can't hit a note dead-on, thus invoking the " a little pitchy" comment from Randi...
And all the rest who feel the need to imitate last year's Idol winner...

Remember, Blacks invented rock n' roll. Elvis spread the sound across the races and Hicks, I believe, has that same appeal. I want to hear Hicks do some Southern Gospel.

She has a beer belly and a ghetto booty

Echo Talon, I'm no fan of Katharine's, and I once called her flabby when she wore an awful chrome yellow gown during a performance. But this photo was taken Friday, and I have to say as a middle-aged woman who hasn't had a 22-yr-old body in awhile, I wish I still had her "beer belly and ghetto booty." :)

eh... shes no Jessica Biel.

And she has to be? Why? Katharine is tall at 5'7" and more voluptuous than svelte, But she's not fat, and does not have a beer belly or "ghetto booty."

Here I am defending her from unfair criticism, and I don't even like her much. As a woman, I'm immune to her pretty face and other physical assets. Musically, I don't think she's got an exceptional voice, and her performance skills are weak. Nevertheless, what's fair is fair.
