It has gotten to the point that I come on Free Republic less and less. That's why the trolls have been flourishing... I'm guilty of that too but I intend to rectify it.

I think I read a Mod saying that posts meant to hijack non-immigration threads would be pulled.

Maybe the solution is for all of us to report attempted hijacks as we run across them. Generally I don't like to swamp the Mods, but good people are leaving FR while others are accomplishing their goal of making FR look like a loony bin, which undermines the conservative cause.

Look at all the good FR has accomplished over the years. If we allow the trolls to take over, all that will be lost.

That's a good idea. But several of us need to do it. I don't like swamping the mods either, and I think I can count on one hand the number of times that I've hit the abuse button. But enough is enough! Good post.
