WASHINGTON - A Pentagon probe into the death of Iraqi civilians last November in the Iraqi city of Haditha will show that U.S. Marines "killed innocent civilians in cold blood," a U.S. lawmaker said Wednesday.
From the beginning, Iraqis in the town of Haditha said U.S. Marines deliberately killed 15 unarmed Iraqi civilians, including seven women and three children.

Well, the military is investigating and we'll find out what happened. Murtha should not be jumping the gun on this.
According to Eman, the Marines then entered the living room. "I couldn't see their faces very well—only their guns sticking into the doorway. I watched them shoot my grandfather, first in the chest and then in the head. Then they killed my granny." She claims the troops started firing toward the corner of the room where she and her younger brother Abdul Rahman, 8, were hiding; the other adults shielded the children from the bullets but died in the process. Eman says her leg was hit by a piece of metal and Abdul Rahman was shot near his shoulder. "We were lying there, bleeding, and it hurt so much. Afterward, some Iraqi soldiers came. They carried us in their arms. I was crying, shouting 'Why did you do this to our family?' And one Iraqi soldier tells me, 'We didn't do it. The Americans did.'"So a young child, who can't tell the difference between American and Iraqi soldiers, who couldn't see anyone's faces, who thought the Iraqi soldiers killed her family (until they told her Americans did it), becomes a prime witness to these allegations? I hope there is some reliable coverage that gets to the truth.

No matter how well things are going, no matter how good the planning or the training, it is inevitable that a few people are going to snap from time to time and if they have a gun in their hand...well then. I'm not making excuses but sh*t happens. Nothing new or surprising. Everybody knows that Iraq is not a summer camp. Anyways, having said that, it appears that the Pentagon is carrying out an investigation so I see no need to publicize this until the investigation is complete - outside of demoralizing our troops and the American population, encouraging our enemy and scoring political points against President Bush.
I used to think that Murtha was well-meaning but misguided. My opinion has started to change.
I agree with you.
Women and children may have died, but I highly doubt they intentionally killed them. These are soldiers in a war, not cops in East LA.
Murtha is an ex-human. I'm going to refrain from further comment about this piece of trash.
The ones I've met will correct you if you say "ex-Marine". They prefer "Former Marine". I've heard a few of them say that. I finally got to teasing one guy I knew, saying that you're never really out of the Marines, they just let you go home. He laughed and agreed. You are of course, correct. They all seem to feel, "Once a Marine, always a Marine". God bless 'em all.

Today, the liberal media can still smear anybody they want, but if the Marines get cleared, then we're going to get to see their faces on TV calling Murtha a liar. If that happens before November, voters are going to get to compare him to REAL Marines and at least a few of them will see they've been sold a bill of goods.
I assume that guy's a few months from vegetation anyway. In the long run, the more important thing is that the liberal media outlets who portray this guy as God's Messenger get called to account too. For example, did you happen to notice that this article just calls him "lawmaker" for the first four paragraphs? Like they're talking about Salomon or something.
I read up about the whole Winter Soldier smear job that Kerry did back then. It's like re-opening an old wound. It was just bizarre to me that such insane and idiotic lies could be practically unopposed in America.
The only good part of it was that it made me appreciate more that the liberals don't COMPLETELY control the media these days.
Well, toby, contact Murtha's office and ask for the official proof (stats). I'll be willing to bet they don't exist except in his Big Head/Little Mind.
Frankly, I think this traitor ought to be hog tied and dropped in the middle of Iraq, without the benefit of the brave young men and women who have given life and limb to back his butt up.
I went to a local shop the other day and the lady who checked me out at the register had a pin on her shirt with a pic of a young soldier. I asked who he was and she explained he was her son, and was killed in Iraq last February serving his country.
I thanked her for his service to our country, and for hers.
Murtha needs to quit painting these soldiers as enemies. I know he is supposed to be some kind of war hero.
He sure as heck don't act like one to me. I saw on C-Span today his comments.
I am still seething. That is not a hero, that is a piece of shit. No war hero would do that.
I've got nothing to say or ask of the traitor not will I give him my time of day. I'll let the honorable Marines handle him.
