Anheuser-Busch Cos., which brews Budweiser and Bud Light, said Friday it bought the Rolling Rock beer brand from InBev USA, the U.S. subsidiary of Belgian-Brazilian brewer InBev SA, for $82 million.

Under the agreement announced by the two companies, Anheuser-Busch will use the brand to expand its portfolio of products and begin brewing Rolling Rock and Rock Green Light in August.

Meanwhile, InBev said it will sell its brewery in Latrobe, Pa., to focus its U.S. business on imported beers and is currently in discussion with potential buyers.

From this link:

Anheuser-Busch, the nation’s largest brewer, said it will begin producing Rolling Rock and Rock Green Light in August at its Newark, N.J., facility, one of 12 breweries across the country.

It's JUST SAD.

Rolling Rock really wasn't a very good beer.

I guess the best in that category is Michelob.

Rolling Rock had a cool label and bottle is all. And the horse was kind of cool too.

Schlitz, the beer that made Milwaukee famous. Budweiser would have been smarter to buy that brand name and revive it.

Who really cares about Rolling Rock unless you are from Pennsylvania?

And if Schlitz isn't available, there is always Blatz.

Are you talking about the Skeller in D.C.? If so, yes. Wonder if it's still there?

"No, it's the ALL AMERICAN RATHSKELLER in Happy Valley (State College, PA)."

Now this is wierd. I remember that one too. Fun place. Like 40 different brands of beer. That was unusual at the time.

BTW, there was one in D.C. too. It was just around the corner from Georgetown U, where else.
