With their second win over a division opponent this month, the Browns (2-2) looked nothing like the inept team that was embarrassed 34-7 in their home opener three weeks ago by Pittsburgh. Chicago (1-2) at Detroit (2-1) *Ford Field* - 1:00 PM (Sheridan's line: Chicago by 3) The Bears were spanked at home by Dallas on SNF last week. Their offense was anemic, but that's expected with Rex Grossman at QB. What was surprising, however, was that their defense couldn't stop either the run or the pass. Detroit was utterly destroyed by Philadelphia last week, 56-21. The Lions defense was embarrassing to watch, as Eagles receivers were left wide open and RB Brian Westbrook seemed to break at least five tackles every time he had the ball. QB Jon Kitna put up...

The ho-hum aspect of Jim Thome's 500th home run is yet another example of the damage the steroids scandal has done to baseball. You did hear about it, didn't you? The feat kind of got lost Sunday between Tiger Woods' clinching of the FedEx Cup and the Patriots' clobbering of the Chargers in their first post-Spygate game. Kott got them mixed up and complained he was up all night while his "old lady" slept beside him. The remarkable transcript was prepared by the FBI and filed in court by Kott's attorneys to show U.S. District Judge John Sedwick what they didn't want the jury to see. The document was filed under seal Tuesday by Kott's attorneys, but quickly placed in the public file by Sedwick, who ruled there was no reason...

My 16 year old spotted this ugly spider residing between the house and grill this evening. The locale is Columbus, MS (northeast part of the state) Can anybody identify what kind of spider it is? This bugger was about 3 inches in length and 2 inches wide counting the legs. The body was about 3/4 inch long and about 3/8 inch wide. FYI: It is now a good spider. Smushed into a little pile of goo. http://myweb.cableone.net/jcdillon/images/Spider2%209-5-07.jpg

My mother in law is in town so my wife and I used the time to run out to the firing range so she could get in some practice with her new Springfield XD9 (It's really a beautiful gun BTW). I loaded magazines for her while she shot at three different Shoot-N-See targets positioned at various points around one of our "pits". When we were finished, this is what was left of "Target No 1". With my commute I work pretty long hours and she's home alone a lot with our seven year old daughter. So if you are a...

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) - Bill Murray could face a drunken driving charge after cruising through downtown Stockholm in a golf cart and refusing to take a breath test, citing U.S. law. Police officers spotted the "Caddyshack" star early Monday in the slow-moving vehicle and noticed he smelled of alcohol when they pulled him over, said Detective-Inspector Christer Holmlund of the Stockholm police. "He refused to blow in the (breath test) instrument, citing American legislation," Holmlund told The Associated Press on Wednesday. "So we applied the old method - a blood test. It will take 14 days before the results are...
