"I remember an interview that O'Reilly did with him right before the 2004 election. O'Reilly said something about the media and Bush laughed nervously and said something like, I'm not going to pick a fight with the media.

He seemed afraid. The media started after him big time with the 9/11 hearings and it's been non-stop since then. He has to let them know there will be consequences for their attacks. They sense weakness
"

The media started attacking President Bush big time during the 9/11 hearings?

Who knew?
And here I was thinking they had been attacking President Bush non-stop since during the campaign against Algore and during the Florida re-count.

Did it occur to you that President Bush was not too worried about the media in that O'Reilly interview, just before the elections in 2004, because he was fairly confident he was going to clobber Hanoi John Kerry, liberal media or not?

No, that didn't occur to me. He didn't exactly clobber Kerry. The major reason they defeated Kerry was because of the SwiftBoat Vets, something Bush/Rove had nothing to do with.

I would say that the media has been pretty effective in bringing the president's approval rating down 20 points in general and across the board on every issue. He should begin to worry about the media. They have a simple but effective strategy, lower Bush's approval numbers with negative news all time time. What is Bush's strategy rather than talk mush.

He needs to be very worried about them and fight back. We have 140,000 troops in Iraq and the constant unanswered lies undermine and make every minute more dangerous for them. There are real world consequences from his weakness.

He's been reduced to an ex-fighter Pilot that can't even wear a flight jacket anymore!
