Se Puede Get Two Years Tax-Free!
Human Events ^ | May 31, 2006 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 05/31/2006 3:12:23 PM PDT by boryeulb

If Congress adopts the Bush plan and gives amnesty to illegal aliens, Senate Republicans will be asking President Cheney for a pardon.

Get Yours FREE!
Bush wants to grant illegal aliens amnesty while sounding like he's really cracking down on them. It tells you where Americans stand on illegal immigration that Bush has to pull the Democrat trick of hiding from the public what he really believes when it comes to immigration.

The "path to citizenship" that Bush and the Senate are trying to pawn off on Americans requires that illegals pay huge fines and back taxes, with "huge" being defined as a $2,000 fine and taxes for three of the last five years. Even with the special "Two Years Tax-Free" package for illegals, this is about as likely as me paying my dad back the money I "borrowed" from him when I was in college.

We're told illegal immigrants are dying to pay taxes if only they can become citizens. Oh by the way, they also will have a panoply of government benefits available to them if they become citizens -- in fact, even if they get green cards. They're probably unaware of this and are just dying to send half their paychecks to the government just like us shiftless, lazy Americans.

Inasmuch as most of these low-skilled immigrant workers are in the 0% tax bracket, this should be a real boon for the U.S. Treasury. Indeed, the government may end up paying the illegals money: "Let's see, Juan. According to our records, you owe us 0% for the past three years, and because you qualify for the earned-income tax credit, we actually owe you! Are 20s OK?"

The Senate bill also forgives illegal aliens who have committed identity theft by stealing American Social Security numbers to get jobs.

So in addition to the Two Years Tax-Free plan for illegals, they get one free felony. Also, illegal immigrants from Mexico qualify for affirmative action, allowing them to get into U.S. colleges with lower grades and scores than Americans.

What's the process for losing your citizenship and becoming an illegal alien?

However hardworking illegal immigrants are when they come here, the moment they become citizens, they will be immediately demagogued by Democrats into viewing welfare as a universal human right, just as they now view living in America.

Of course illegal immigrants will "work for less." They don't have to pay taxes at all now, and under Bush's plan they will have to pay taxes for only -- at most -- three of the last five years. Not only that, but illegal aliens don't require their employers to comply with OSHA regulations, overtime and minimum wage laws, unemployment insurance, disability laws, the Family and Medical Leave Act, a slew of oppressive environmental regulations, and 4 million other ways the government has developed to make it extremely expensive to hire legal employees.

Instead of creating a separate class of citizens who are immune from oppressive government rules, how about relieving all of us -- even us shiftless Americans -- from the cost of government?

I thought all these trade agreements the free-trade fetishists have pushed on us over the years already allowed corporations to take advantage of cheap labor in other countries -- countries that don't have the panoply of oppressive government regulations that make it so expensive to hire American workers. Doesn't NAFTA already allow us to buy inexpensive goods made by Mexicans in Mexico?

In addition to discriminating against American citizens in favor of illegal immigrants, Bush wants to continue our immigration policy of massively discriminating against immigrants who live farther than walking distance from the United States. America's immigration laws are applied only to immigrants who are separated from the U.S. by an ocean. But if they live near the border and can run across it, they're in.

Even if one accepts Bush's theory that we need more immigrants to do the jobs that lazy, shiftless Americans won't do, isn't it possible that Korean immigrants, Italian immigrants or Indian immigrants would work hard too? But they can't run across the border to America, so they're out of luck. (Unless you are spokesmen for the Taliban, in which case there's a seat waiting for you at Yale.)

Since when did conservatives start encouraging people to walk more? What are we, a bunch of Al Gores now?

Hey I'm in the process of filing my taxes for the past 4 years (long story) and it's going to pretty much wipe me out and that's before factoring in the interest and penalties.

I think I should take a quick trip to Mexico, change my name to Pablo Cruz, sneak in broad daylight back across the border declare myself a Mexican National here illegally and get a reprive from my taxes, interest and penalties.

Of course if I were to implement this plan I would only be able to post on FR from the computer in the prison library!

Gosh, if illegals only have to pay 3 out of 5, then couldn't us poor schmuck citizens get a deal like say, 5 out of 10? I mean, don't we outrank them or something like that?!

And this bill was actually passed in the Senate.

Maybe it's a back door deal to make the House look good: When they bury it.

Just claim that you are an illegal and 'settle' your back taxes. Or, better yet, just use somebody elses Social Security Number instead since it isn't illegal anymore.

Yeah, I'm for thaat and more.

Besides, it don't much matter how much money the feds take in. They plan to spend WAY MORE anyway.

An illegal has to pay only 3 of 5 years.

Stands to reason a vet should never pay any more taxes, right?

Annie,

This is a nice article and it proves you've almost got it.

The Senate bill also forgives illegal aliens who have committed identity theft by stealing American Social Security numbers to get jobs.

Who cares what the Senate does? They're a bunch of money-grubbing lick-spittles who will do anything for a buck. ("Get off the table, Mabel. The dollar's for the beer")

What concerns me most, and what should be bothering you is what Duhbya's got hiding up his sleeve --Social Security Totalization Agreement with Mexico.

Mexican illegal aliens will be able to apply for and receive US Social Security benefits after having worked (illegally) in the US for only 6 quarters (18 months) while US citizens (read: you and I) have to work 40 quarters (10 years) before we're eligible to apply.

Not only that, but under the terms of the agreement, the Mexican illegal alien can apply for, and receive benefits for his Mexican (national) wife and children even if the wife and children have never stepped foot in the US.

But, as bad as these are, these were only the terms contained in the proposal, not the signed agreement.

We don't yet know how bad the agreement really is because Duhbya's been sitting on them since June 29, 2004 --two years. He's been waiting to get his amnesty, er, guest worker program in place first. Once this is done, then we get to see just how bad he's really screwed us.

Its Socialism For The Third World. Oh and we "lazy, shiftless Americans" have to work to pay the taxes to fund the benefits that go to people who don't even have the wherewithal to pay for all those expensive public services. What a lovely sweetheart deal - except for the people born in this country!

Under Hagel-Martinez, illegals to receive yearly Government check for up to $4,700.

I haven't read the Senate bill yet but does it require them to pay penalties and interest on the back taxes or is that waived? My bet is that the way the law is worded that all penalties and interest if owed are not to be assessed. The bill probably says pay back taxes period and in doing so the law would (to my non tax lawyer brain) waive the penalties and interest since they aren't mentioned and this is a newer law that would supersede prior law and administrative rulings.

Anyone know for sure one way or the other?

She is not the only one disillusioned with the administration. I heard President Bush on last nights news give a 'ringing' defense of the USMC. Reminded me of the 'ringing' endorsement his brother gave Katherine Harris. John Warner gave a better defense of the Corps than Bush. He seems to be getting weaker by the day.

I have nothing personal against Bush. I think he's the most conservative President we are likely to see for the rest of our lifetimes. Once he leaves office in 2009, it's going to be a long time before we see anyone advocating tax cuts or nominating judges like Samuel Alito.

But this immigration debate has made one thing starkly clear to me, something I already knew but hadn't expected to ever see demonstrated so blatantly:

American government's primary purpose is to carry out the transfer of wealth from the smaller group of people who create it to the larger group of people who don't know how to create it, in the hope of securing the lasting political support of the larger group.

This purpose cuts across all party lines and all good intentions. New representatives who go to Washington in the hopes of making a stand against this purpose find themselves cajoled, influenced, or even threatened to change their opinions - and ultimately decide to go along, hoping they can at least do some good. Thus the slack-jawed dismay of Frist, et al, at the fact that the base doesn't appreciate the good they have done and the pressure they are under to "go along to get along". It literally does come down to: "You've got your SUV's and your McMansions and your malls...what the hell do you want now? Shut up and let us do what we need to do to keep the economy (i.e., tx revenues) flowing!"

It's no longer a Republican vs. Democrat debate - both parties are pursuing the same goal using very different rhetoric. Republicans will get us there a bit slower and with a bit more respect for tradition - Democrats will get us there more quickly and non-traditionally, but never doubt that both major parties are headed for the same post-modernist train station: an imperial government served by its people, and paternalistically serving them in turn by paying their bills and making most of their life decisions. Sadly, far too many Americans see this as a good place to end up - freedom from responsibility and more time to watch TV. ;)
