Is the P-T event associated with an irridium layer?

I don't think so.

Anyone else wondering about the article's' mentioning the crater's diameter as both "30 miles" and "300 miles" -- in multiple paragraphs...?

Wonder what 250 million years of 5 mile deep ice moving around on top of the original sediments and gravel does to fossils in those rocks..

Antarctica did not have year around ice untill it separated from Austrailia about 100mya.

300 mile wide crater...wow.

That's nothing. The Clinton Catastrophe created a crater almost 3000 miles wide.

"8. Belief that rocks can fall from the sky promotes hedonism and animalistic, amoral behavior."

Especially in San Francisco. Can we get a big rock to fall there?

How vile! A story that combines the twin scourges of evolution and craterism!

Ya ruined it! I was gonna post the craterism stuff later in the thread.

Does not compute in Young Earth Theory.

Young Earth Theory "does not compute" -- not even for creationists (those who understand science, that is...)

It stands to reason that before any mass evolution spurt such as the Cambrian explosion there would have to be a mass extinction event such as a monster meteor impact to "clear the way" so to speak.

Do scientists have a theory on what spurred the Cambrian explostion?

"...you will find very few paleontologist [sic] who agree with that silly hypothesis."

And your (scientific) authority for that statement is...?

Velikovsky would've been pleased with this information.

This doesn't surprise me in the least. I have a feeling before it's all over we'll find all kinds of things buried under a mile of ice.....things that will answer a lot of questions.

Yet another reason why global warming isn't necessarily a bad thing. :-)

That's not a mascon, that's a Shoggoth.

Well, whatever you do, don't summon the Shoggoth.

"The Shoggoth should be VERY powerful as thought-form entities go. It should also be (or rapidly become) fairly independent and capable of autonomous action. With continued existence and use the Shoggoth will seem to develop its own "personality" and can become troublesome. If the Shoggoth becomes rebellious it may be necessary for the magician to destroy the Shoggoth. A standard but thorough banishing and the destruction of the Sigil should suffice."

You H.P. Lovecraft fans are determined to ruin the Quaternary for the rest of us.

I must brag a little bit.

That would be a good idea, but you'll have to cut down a whole lot.:)
