Most of the controversies from the wild 2004 presidential campaign have long been forgotten. But one is coming back, the New York Times reported this week, and we're glad it is: Sen. John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic nominee for president, is joining an effort to debunk the many attacks on his service in Vietnam more than two decades earlier.
Kerry is a holder of three purple hearts, a bronze star and a silver star, all awarded in a four-month stint aboard Navy swift boats in Vietnam's Mekong delta.

This is the kind of person who has been handed out much more than he deserved to get out of life.
Traitor John is nothing more than a worthless floater in the Democrat septic tank.
Good on ya.
He has had 2 years for his spin machine staff to come up with a rebuttal. They needed at least two years to play with the wording, so I'm surprised that anyone questions the time-delay.
Nobody seems to care about the delay needed for a SecNavy (John Layman) citation which popped 15 years after the facts.
Write him off Hes a lying loser. The best thing he could do just now - is to make a movie. His movie could be about wild-eyed, drug-crazed marines cutting off the ears of little girls, or breaking into houses in the dead of night to terrorize kids and children and young people and under-age kids and toddlers and pre-schoolers and babies and little guys. Woo! See what 2 years can do for you if think ahead?
Mega DITTOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm taking bets.
IF, it turn out that the Marines are guilty of what has been alleged, you can bet that he will be front and center (along with Murtha and FatBoy Teddy) at the news conference that WILL BE held and I am certain, the traiterous Snake, will compare "it" with something about Vietnam.
Any takers?
As an aside, anyone with an ounce of common sense, would realize that when the Swift Boat Vets and others, began to question/challenge him about his service, IF, his record was as he said it was--and thus the release thereof, would automatically have exonerated him; made fools of the SBV; put a kibosh on anyone and everyone who dared to criticize his Vietnam service and maybe, even his post-Vietnam conduct, which is what most of us took issue with--WHY, would he not done so, expeditiously and with maximum exposure? DUH!
Methinks he doth protest too much!!!
Swifties will kick his ass all over again.
Bring IT ON!
Regarding John Kerry and his continuing bitterness toward the Swiftboat Vets - since he chose to make his military background the cornerstone of his otherwise rudderless 2004 campaign, he should have made sure his sheets were clean.
The Star should follow up, and do some research as to why his refusal to make a full release of his military - and discharge! - records continues to this day....hint: there may be a Pulitzer in it for you.
Yeppers...you are right about his belated attempt to prove the Swifties wrong...he was too easily cowed by them during 2004, to have anything concrete to prove them wrong.
Thank you Jesus for small miracles!!!!
Of course. Anybody with a clean record should be able to easily and proudly show it and end the matter right there.
Kerry simply wasn't and isn't able to do that. And I believe most of us here know and have guessed why.
In fact it is darned odd to be dredging this up at this time. It will just remind the blogosphere of all the Kerry shenanigans, from Cambodia, to shooting the kid, to the lame Purple Hearts, to visiting with the VietCong leadership during the war, to the allegations of recklessness while on the Swift Boat.
What does he think can come as a positive for him on airing this all over again?
The media will spin that he released the records. Case closed (or so they will say). He will then run again. The rules are different for liberals.
I don't think it will work, but it's entertaining to watch.
This was exactly my reaction. The Senator from France isn't trying to settle an old issue. He is engaging in a pre-emptive strike. Specifically, he is signaling to the Swiftees not to gear up against him for 2008--that he won't be as slow to react or as unprepared to respond as he was in 04.
Bring it on Jean Fraude. I'll write a check to the SVfT anytime they call on me.
Because he's an idiot.
The scary part is that Hillary will cut his balls off in a debate on national when she asks him why he hasn't signed the 180.
"We're glad Kerry is undertaking this effort. So many of the accusations hurled at him were demonstrably false on their face. It's time the record were set straight."
No biased report here /Sarc Off
Dear John F. Kerry,
Sign the SF 180 and release all your records or shut the h@#l up and fade away.
To be accurate, all the medals (including the PH for the December incident - the claim for which was rejected by his superior at the time)were awarded in the 10 week February to April period.
He's just too humble to show off his great record.
