I was reading Ann Coulter's "Godless: The Church of Liberalism," when all the hell broke loose last week. At that point I had not reached the chapter which contained her comments on the 9/11 widows ... so I didn't see the firestorm coming. Now we have Coulter being portrayed as an alien monster and elected officials demanding that her book be banned.
Did Ann Coulter go over the edge a bit with her comments about The Jersey Girls? Possibly. Rather than write that they were enjoying their husband's deaths in the Twin Towers, perhaps Coulter could have said that they were enjoying the attention they've been getting since the terrorist attacks. That comment would have been certainly correct, and far less inflammatory.
The fact is that in her general comments about these 9/11 widows, Coulter got it essentially right. The left most definitely has refined the technique of taking someone deserving of a great deal of public sympathy, and then turning that person into a propaganda machine for the left. The obvious goal here is to create a spokesman that cannot be attacked ... one who's essentially bulletproof. Cindy Sheehan certainly fits that bill. The left would have us believe that to attack anything said by these people is off limits due to the suffering they have experienced. We saw this very concept at work in the defense of Sheehan.
When you think about it, Hillary Clinton has even approached this bulletproof status in some ways. She's a woman, and she's a woman who has endured public humiliation at the hands of her philandering husband. As such, some would say that she is beyond criticism. We've seen examples-a-plenty where Hillary's critics have been criticized for saying such things about a woman, and a long-suffering loyal wife at that!
Back to Coulter's book. I think it is brilliant. Sure, I might not agree with her characterizations of the 9/11 widows, but the larger point she was making there was wholly valid. Throughout the entire book Coulter does an excellent job of showing liberals for what they are. It is one of the most effective and hard-hitting writings of the absurdities, inconsistencies, and outright lies of today's dominant liberal elite in this country.
That is why Ann Coulter must be destroyed!
What you saw last week .. and will see continue into this week ... is a driven attempt by the left in this country, and especially the leftist media, to so completely demonize Ann Coulter as to destroy here effectiveness as a writer and conservative pundit. The focus will continue to be on this one portion of the book relating to the professional widows, without any commentary on the thousands of other very valid points she brought up. Ann Coulter sells a hell of a lot of books. There is no liberal writer out there who comes close, a point not lost on the left.
So, how far is the left willing to go in their efforts to destroy one of our best conservative writers? Well, we now have two New Jersey Democrats (state legislators) who have announced that they want Coulter's books banned in New Jersey. That's right. Banned. They weren't happy just to urge people not to buy the book, they actually want to use the police power of the New Jersey State Government to prevent the books from being sold in the first place! This is America? They're names, by the way, are Joan Quigley and Linda Stender. We'll note that unless we have some rather odd family names at work here, they're both women. These two ladies issued a press release last Friday that was carefully crafted to contain two dominant leftist trigger words. In that release they said;
"Ann Coulter's criticism of 9-11 widows, whose only desire since the attacks have been to repair their shattered lives and protect other families from the horrors they have experienced, is motivated purely by petty greed and hate. .... Coulter's vicious characterizations and remarks are motivated by greed and her desire to sell books . . . She is a leech trying to turn a profit off perverting the suffering of others."
You got the two trigger words, didn't you? "Greed" and "hate." Remember, to a liberal, anyone who makes money in an endeavor frowned upon by liberals is "greedy" and any person who expresses an idea contrary to basic liberal dogma is preaching "hate." How shallow these people are.
At any rate ... please don't let the left scare you off. They've taken one paragraph from an excellent book and are using that section in an attempt to have Ann Coulter banished to some writer's leper colony on the dark side of the Moon. Hopefully they're boosting sales, rather than hurting them.

That is a very astute observation.
Unfortunately, they don't understand that Ann's fate is not in the hands of the corrupt, bloviating windbags of the US Senate, but rests with the American public. What we're seeing is the echo chamber of our self-annointed elites going into overload.
Hannity hasn't been one of my favorites. I lean in your direction, but there's nothing to be gained from talking the guy down.
As for Limbaugh, his pompous attitude is part of the schtick, that is his show. You don't move to the top of the heap by showing reticense to take charge. He speaks with authority for a reason.
That being said, he's been banging it out since the mid 1980s that I am aware of and I'd be hard pressed to come up with half the food for thought that he puts out.
In most instances I think Limbaugh is right on target. Do I have beefs with him from time to time? Absolutely. I have beefs with my wife from time to time. I'm not tossing her out on her ear either.

As for the thing the RATS are focusing on, her attack on the New Jersey media whores, I like it when somebody punctures the Media sainthood bestowed on leftist spewing victims. The moral coin of their realm is suffering and pain and when they can find a victim spewing their tripe it brings them to reverent orgasm in the red-stream media. To deflate their chosen saints like Ann has done is a direct assault on their religion. Heresy , blasphemy and apostasy! Burn her at the stake, or at least ban her books!
I feel their pain. It's called schadenfraud.

I generally avoid pundit shows, so I missed the H&C boxing match.
Personal appearance can go one way or the other for me. Obviously a few posters have a personal thing with her, and that was enough to drag me back for a bit. I am very tired of the antics of a select few on here. Had most of us acted in the matter they now do on a routine basis, we'd have long since been history.
I get all my serious political stuff in print. Simply put, it is nearly impossible to get anything of substance out over the TV.
The idea that some in Jersey want to basically restrict the book, however, is outrageous. That alone probably netted her a boatload more in sales.
The libs need to be attacked in a direct fashion. An even more direct strategy is to confront the libs regarding their hate driven prejudicial stereotyping. There is nothing intellectually honest about the libs protestations. Their hate -affair with GWB is illustrative. Even an incurably incompetent GWB would have stumbled by chance onto some correct actions. But the perverse hate spewing left can never acknowledge even the most modest of intelligent human traits to someone they have worked so hard at demonizing and de-humanizing.
It is truly a terrifying display of raw hatred that we are witnessing. It is not rational. It is at it's root...pathological. It is precisely the kind of hatred that spawns murder and genocide. It is a hatred brewed up inside of a person intended to alleviate a deep inner ache. A dark inner wound. And once this hatred finds it's target it will not yield to logic or reason. It will relentlessly pursue it's target and revel in it's merciless and brutal destruction. Perhaps that's the deep root of kinship the libs and Islamonazis share. Lets face it, there is some kind of chemistry there. It may not have been love at first sight but I can see those two groups enjoying one big night of unified bawdy celebration at the news of GWB's demise.
GWB is the personification of everything hated in our post-modern world. He is a traditionalist. He is a man. He is a Christian. He is a Texan. He is a capitalist. And he is unapologetic.
Ultimately that is all that matters. He is guilty by design as are all of us who share any of those characteristics. GWB presents the perfect storm of personal qualities that makes him unworthy of not only the presidency, but life it's self. He pushes the nuclear destruct buttons of the liberal mind simply by speaking, by breathing, by being. He and his kind cannot and will not be tolerated by the tolerance set.
It is only through his destruction that they can affirm their humanity.
So to argue or debate these people on this or that issue is to honor their motivations and respect their intentions far more than they deserve. They have no intention of entering into a partnership of equals resulting in shared values and compromise. We are the enemy and their very lives depend on our defeat. Not the defeat of Islamonazis. Not the defeat of poverty, crime, racism, intolerance and ignorance.
In the simplistic hate filled mind of the modern lib all the ills of the world will suddenly dissolve when men and women like GWB cease to exists or at the very least are exiled to the back of life's bus. Placed as far from the controls as is necessary to insure we have no influence. And if we don't learn and accept our place, force will be quick and severe.
So Ann is the spear. She is placing a dagger directly in the heart of the demon by speaking the truth. And the demon is gnashing and thrashing about while the pretty frail blonde girl unflinchingly stares into the bowels of Hell. Reminds me of that scene from the exorcist. All the demons hysterically screaming and threatening and wailing...cause they know they've been found out and they've met their match.
buy Ann's book and piss off a liberal, money well spent.

She is right out there ducking the slings and arrows while pols like Hastert cringe and whimper with faux indignitude at the prosecution of criminals like Jefferson, while good men like DeLay and Libbey have to suffer the malicious prosecutions of a run away legal machine fueled by raw political golas to suppres the foreign and domestic politics of our president.
Lay on Anne, and continue to brandish the sword of truth, cut them as they continue to howl in anguish like vampires exposed to the full light of day.
Nobody can "destroy" Coulter, any more than judges can "strike down" laws. It's all smoke, mirrors and shamelessness.

The Leftists are entirely lucky that we can't seem to find a President who can be bothered to enforce the US Code.
BEGINNING, if you'll pardon me, with the removal of tax deductions for ALL (churches definitely included) now tax-exempt 'establishments' and organisations who deal in politics.
I'd pull tax exemption from the Southern Baptist Convention and the ACLU in the same minute, had I the power to do so. From all the 'foundations', of whichever political slant, and from business and union PACs.
They're entirely welcome to express their assorted views...but NOT on the taxpayers' dime. Reasonable?

Rush manages to do it day in and day out. That's what is amazing about him. He's tireless. I run out of things to say after 5 minutes. He's got 20 years. Amazing.
