Murtha's Second Act (Redeploy to Okinawa)
Human Events ^ | Jun 22, 2006 | Bob Novak

On NBC's "Meet the Press" last Sunday, Rep. John Murtha repeated his call for "redeploying" U.S. troops from Iraq with something new -- and disturbing to fellow Democrats. Asked by moderator Tim Russert about sites for redeployment, Murtha replied: "We can go to Okinawa. ... We can redeploy there almost instantly."

When Russert expressed doubt about "a timely response" from Okinawa to meet a Middle East crisis, the 16-term congressman from western Pennsylvania and new national security spokesman for his party stumbled: "Well, it -- you know, they -- when I say Okinawa, I, I'm saying troops in Okinawa. When I say a timely response, you know, our fighters can fly from Okinawa very quickly. And -- and -- when they don't know we're coming."

In fact, a Pentagon spokesman says it would take "under a month" to send a 4,500-man Marine Expeditionary Force 6,000 nautical miles from Okinawa to Bahrain and then 600 more miles to Baghdad.

Murtha's Okinawa answer embarrassed Democratic House members who would not dream of criticizing publicly the former backroom pol who became an icon to the party's antiwar base last November by calling for an immediate troop withdrawal. His performance on "Meet the Press" reinforced dismay inside the party that Murtha, at age 74, has announced his candidacy for majority leader if the Democrats regain control of the House in the 2006 elections......."

A prime example of the brilliant minds we have on the Armed Services Committy.

This part is EXCELLENT:

Murtha's Okinawa answer embarrassed Democratic House members who would not dream of criticizing publicly the former backroom pol who became an icon to the party's antiwar base last November by calling for an immediate troop withdrawal. His performance on "Meet the Press" reinforced dismay inside the party that Murtha, at age 74, has announced his candidacy for majority leader if the Democrats regain control of the House in the 2006 elections.

I LOVE that paragraph

And this is great:

Murtha now wears his heroic combat record like a suit of armor.

and this

Murtha disqualifies adversaries who have not tasted combat...

Now, how about telling us what you did in combat, mr. ex-marine?

Murtha is embarrassing himself and I don't think he even realizes it.

As I recall,Murtha was a long time Marine (aka lifer) having started out as an enlisted man and advanced to officer status. I also seem to recall that his "heroics in Viet Nam" are a bit questionable...he was one of those officers in the rear with the gear that came out to the bush on a chopper once in a while, bringing hot chow and the payroll roster. It was not uncommon for the boys in the rear to take care of the lifers and give out bronze stars for this kind of vermin with the same frequency that the grunts were handed out malaria pills.

Secondly, the guy is not, I repeat NOT a marine in stature, composure, conviction or anything else whatsoever. Marines pride themselves on dedication to task, espirt de corps and not leaving others behind on the battle field. Murtha has deserted marines currently in harms way, aiding and encouraging their adversaries. May the bastard rot in hell. He has sold his soul for the cheap thrill of personal advancement in a dysfunctional unit...the Democratic Party.

Lastly, the dim wit is none too bright when it comes to world geography....he thinks Okinawa must be close to the middle east...after all...both are somewhere on the other side of the globe. Little did he know that there is 5,000 miles between the two. So, he's a dumb bastard to boot. But, he believes he is valuable leadership material for the Democratic Party.

May God save the United States of America.

I highly recommend www.michaelsavage.com tonight for the "real story" about Murtha. Savage's show highlighted the latest Wash Times article uncovering Murtha's shady deals. It's quite mindblowing and even ties his suspicious deals to the Democratic Mouthpiece, Nancy Pelosi's nephew.

The most interesting part of the article-
Murtha was named as an unindicted co conspirator in the Congressional ABSCAM scandal.
He didn't take the bribe that day, but, wanted more negotations.
Paging Nancy Pelosi.
I'm sure if anyone in the drive by media dares to question that senile gas bag about his shady past-
he'll fly into a bullying rage, ranting and raving that only those who have taken a bribe can question his corruption bona fides.

Murtha now wears his heroic combat record like a suit of armor.

and this Murtha disqualifies adversaries who have not tasted combat...

Now, how about telling us what you did in combat, mr. ex-marine?

I was privileged to meet the Most Decorated and Second Most Decorated soldiers of WWII as well as many decorated veterans of Viet Nam.

Not a single one of them "wore" their combat record as a suit of armor.

Neither did they fault anyone who never heard a shot fired in anger.

And the only way you could get them to mention their heroic acts was after a lot of trust and booze had filled their veins.

Kerry and Murtha have five Purple hearts between them with nary a visible scar nor limp and have not their released service records.

True...but wouldn't it have been easier (and equally true) just to change it to "Ace Murtha, Pet Defective"?
