Update:

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that President Bush overstepped his authority in ordering military war crimes trials for Guantanamo Bay detainees, a rebuke to the administration and its aggressive anti-terror policies.

The case focused on Salim Ahmed Hamdan, a Yemeni who worked as a body guard and driver for Usama bin Laden. Hamdan, 36, has spent four years in the U.S. prison at Guantanamo...

"Big win for democrats"...

Isn't that telling, that the first thing we think is that this is a WIN for DEMS...instead of a win for terrorists???

It tells ME who we think are more dangerous to our country, he?

The answer is simple: Release all the prisoners at GITMO. Turn them loose - let them swim home.

"He had to. It was his decision they were ruling on."

No balls. Why did we get him there anyway? What's the use of having SCOTUS nominees when they don't want to help the world from killing America? We wasted alot of hot air for nothing. Start arming your homes.

[Oh man this is going to make all the Bush hating leftists and the Bush hating media drool with glee! DAMN!!!]

That's right, it's almost irrelevant what the full truth is at this point. The left will take this decision and run with it and will spin, spin, spin. Also, every foreign enemy, media outlet and organization like CAIR, Al-Jazeera, etc., will be spinning this one to their heart's content. Be prepared for the fallout.

It is a ruling regarding Trials ONLY - The US Supreme Court has ruled that the Bush administration does not have the authority to try terrorism suspects by military tribunal. They want a Civilian Trial!

Thanks

Or, could immediately push through Congress authority to have it. Do you really think even the Senate would refuse this, esp. after the vote last week? That is the quickest way to do this.

If Bush shrugged it off, it would be his death warrant. The RINOS like McLame would cite this as "obstruction."

Oh, it was Andrew Jackson, not Lincoln, and it was Marshall, not Taney, related to the pro-Indian ruling in one of the two Georgia cases. ("Justice Marshall has made his ruling, now let him enforce it.")

You posted: Where does it say Gitmo should be closed? Let's wait for the details before getting too upset.

I posted: SC decision does not rule to close Gitmo.

What idiots the liberal SC justices are... They're saying that the prisoners can't be held because they aren't prisoners of war, but that the President violated the Geneva Convention, which applies to prisoners of war.

I think that the biggest backlash this will have will be against liberal SC judges, not the POTUS.

"Kill them where they stand"

That is almost certainly going to be what happens. The justices sit in an insulated world. In the world where the fighting is done, the soldiers will simply stop taking prisoners.

The call "take no prisoners" is usually not a suggestion of mercy.

This is going to be ugly.
