Mexico candidate vows vote fight
BBC ^ | 07-06-2006 | BBC

Mexico's centre-left presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has said he will challenge the outcome of Sunday's presidential election. He spoke as the almost complete results gave a razor-thin victory to his conservative rival, Felipe Calderon.

Mr Lopez Obrador said he would appeal to the courts, and urged his supporters to rally in Mexico City's main square.

The results came after electoral officials worked around the clock to verify ballots from the 2 July poll.

Viva La Mexico Revolucion ? -:))))

As long as US-Mexico Border is airtight sealed and all the supporters of Mecha, Aztlan and other Mexican imperialists and 1846-1848 Mexican-American War revisionists in the US are politely escorted back to Mexico, I'd say yes -:))))))))) Let them have their revolution on their territory !

Feel free to disagree of course -:))))

"Center-Left" ????? Well, I guess to the BBC, if you're not as far left as they are, you're in the center! LOL!

Not to mention it appears the Mexican Left has learned lessons from the US Left. Can you say hanging chads?

Once again a leftist proves himself a liar.

Obrador actually said he'd abide by the result of the recount. As long as they cna keep recounting until he comes out ahead, then WHOA!

Recounting MUST stop at that point in the interest of fairness.

Leftists make me puke.

More like "Viva the Gore revolution".

There is a reason that Obrador, has earned the nickname "ObraGore".

His tactics are from the 2000 American democrat party playbook.

Al Gore, the gift that keeps giving. I wonder if the obnoxious Obrador will take a page out of the gore playbook and try and quash the votes of the Mexican military. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Very fun post of Gore ! However, the 2000 US Election saga was resolved peacefully through legal institutions, like the US Supreme Court. We may argue whether it was right to get the Courts involved in the elections, but the end result that the crisis was resolved in civilized manner.

I doubt that the same will go in Mexico. We share the continent, but not a political culture and institutions.

"Mexico's centre-left presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador "

PAN is center left.
PRI is even more left.
PRD is socialists.

The truth is all 3 just want their chance to loot Mexico.

Sergey, in the US, Georgia, Ukraine, and I will bet in Mexico you will find evidence Soros is behind the leftists. He is an advocate of open borders.

Which is why I'm not worried about Caleron loosing, because his side knows how to match fire with fire, and cheat also. Unlike here in the US, where the GOP are defenseless when the RATS cheat.

Sergey you're completely right. I'm just wondering what the impact of our own 2000 election will have on those countries who find themselves in the same closely contested election. Will the defeated candidate pull a gore, and try and bluster his way to power with a coterie of lawyers and political hired guns, or will he rise above it all, as Richard Nixon did in the 1960 race. Nixon could have been a whimpering cry baby, like gore, and appealed his loss to the courts, but Nixon refused saying it would be bad for the country and its institutions to challenge the results in the courts. Even the black prince showed a bit of chivalry on this one. One can only hope that Obrador will show the courage and consider his country before his own self-interest. Given he's a leftist/socialist/howard dean type, I'm sure he'll choose the low road, showing once again what a classless bunch the left is.

Gary. Let's not assign to Soros the magic powers -:))) He may finance leftists here and there, but in the end, it's the millions of people of the countries that rally behind their revolutionaries.

I think it will be a blessing in disguise if Obrador wrecks a havoc in Mexico. The US will have no choice but to take a Military control of the US-Mexico border and all the talks of North American Partnership which means creating the equivalent of EU in North America will be buried once and for all. As for Amigos, let them have their revolution on their territory.

I know I may sound cynical, but that's the way the things work quite often.
