Reports coming in about IAF striking Beruit airport, if this is confirmed this is another sizable escalation. I think this article ought to be pinned.

I HATE war! I have always hated it. I get so damned angry when a "peace protester" asks me why I like war so much! It may seem like an over simplified analogy... but how do you get a bully to STOP beating up on you? Well, you can move to another neighborhood.....only to find there's another bully there. You can cry to your parents or the principal at school.........the bully still lies in wait for you. So how do you make the jerk STOP picking on you (or the other kids who aren't big enough to do anything)? You face the bully! You stand up to him and say: "NO MORE"! If necessary, you kick his ass! Sometimes, it's the only way to get through to him.

Why should we step in? Israel has more than enough military power to do the job. They are Goliath in this struggle.

As long as Russia stays out of it, it may be for the best.
I think Russia is butt-deep in it already. They've been dealing arms to Syria, nuke tech to Iran, threatening to oppose sanctions against Iran and North Korea, and of course, selling advanced fighters to Hugo Chavez, dictator of Venezuela.

Putin just blamed "the west" for (as he put it) creating hundreds of bin Ladens during the Afghan war against the Soviet occupation, even while he massacres the Chechens just to make sure the new USSR controls the route of an oil pipeline.

Iranian representatives were in NK to watch the launches just last week, and they were in Damascus only recently. China has been dragging its heels on acting against either one and we know for a fact that they've been selling rocket technology to Iran and keeping NK alive. I don't believe in coincidences. Each power sees something it wants, and there is a way for all three to achieve them if they act in concert -- just like Hitler, Mussolini, and Hirohito saw sixty-five years ago.

AF fighter jets bombed runways at Beirut International Airport early Thursday morning as part of a military campaign which it vowed would be harsh and quick against the Lebanese government and Hizbullah, which a day before killed eight IDF soldiers and kidnapped two others along the northern border.

It was unclear whether there were any casualties in the IAF strike.

Meeting in emergency session late Wednesday, the Cabinet approved plans by IDF echelons to target the airport and other strategic infrastructures inside Lebanon including power plants.

Earlier Thursday morning, several Katyusha rockets, fired by Hizbullah from southern Lebanon, landed on an IDF base in Mount Meron on Thursday morning. No one was wounded and no damage was reported.

Overnight Wednesday, the IAF struck a Hizbullah post and two bridges in southern Lebanon as the number of targets hit by the Airforce since fighting erupted after the kidnapping of two IDF soldiers, reached into the hundreds.

Meanwhile, Hizbullah shelled the Western Galilee with mortars. No one was wounded and no damage was reported.

Earlier, in a series of air strikes, IAF aircraft bombed Kfar Shuba and Sheba Farms. The communications infrastructure connecting Beirut to the south of the country was also damaged by IAF strikes.

The strikes followed an attack by IAF warplanes and navy gunboats on a Palestinian terrorist base south of Beirut late Wednesday in the closest raid to the Lebanese capital since fighting erupted.

Meanwhile, the names of six of the eight soldiers killed Wednesday in a Hizbullah attack on IDF forces patrolling the Lebanese border were released for publication Wednesday evening: Sgt. Nimrod Cohen, 19, from Mitzpe Shalem; Sgt.-Major Eyal Benin, 22, of Be'ersheba and Sgt.-Major Shani Turgeman, 24, of Beit Shean. All the soldiers' families have been notified.

The fourth victim was later identified as Sergeant-Major Wasim Nazel, 27, from the Druze village of Kfar Yanouch. Earlier, Nazel's family was mistakenly informed that he had been kidnapped.

Two of the soldiers who were killed when the tank in which they were riding drove over an explosive device, were identified as Staff-Sergeant Alexei Kashiniervski, 21, from Ness Ziona and Yaniv Bar-on, 19, from Maccabim.

Under heavy fire, IDF forces continued their attempts to reclaim the bodies of the four soldiers who died when their tank was ripped apart by the blast.

Three other soldiers were killed were riding in a Hummer jeep when it was attacked, while two other soldiers in the same jeep were kidnapped.

All residents along Israel's northern border from Nahariya in the west to Kiryat Shmona in the east were ordered into bomb shelters on Wednesday night.

The thing is brown, we are essentially already in, with our presence in Iraq. Syria may or may not jump in, but with Israel in front of them, and us at their back, they might hesitate. Still, I think this is a major escalation, and of course, I hope I'm wrong.

If Iran attacks Israel, dollars to doughnuts NK will blitskrieg SK and force us to choose who to help. Maybe China will go for the trifecta and launch a naval invasion of Taiwan...

That's the fear that's been noodling around in my mind for the past few weeks. I don't think I'm going to sleep well tonight. Prayers up!
