""Perfect Strangers" was a great album."

Indeed, I wonder if they'll play "Under the gun."

Deep Purple is currently one-quarter of the way through a planned two-year world tour

Is this their Medicare Relief Tour?

Oh stop, I'm just having fun.

************

Only the soulless could make fun of Deep Purple. Now if we were talking about, say, the Eagles..

Nope, "they" have probably re-programmed him, ala "Chef" is that Scientology episode of South Park.

No problem.

I guess like all radio stations however, there are times when I think they play the same stuff over and over.

I agree.

I met Jeff Berlin, Alan Holdsworth, and Chad Wackerman a few times when they would play in Baton Rouge back in the early 80's.

I'll never forget Jeff Berlin's advice to me, "keep practicing". If you have the ability, practice will bring out the chops.

I always thought that many Deep Purple songs were good driving tunes.

Yep, really wore out the 8 track in the old camaro back in the early 70's

"Now that would've been a concert that I'd liked to have been at !"

I still have the ticket stub for REO Speedwagon in Baton Rouge many years ago, but actually went to see the backup band for that show.

It was Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, with Ronnie James Dio. Being a hard core fan of Blackmore's guitar style, my hair stood on end as he and the band nuked the arena.

They played "Man on the Silver Mountain" and Stargazer, but I was bummed to not hear my all time Rainbow song, "Gate of Babylon" (the guitar solo is one of Ritchie's best). I left after a few REO songs due to the huge musical "buzz kill" of hearing love songs 15 minutes after Blackmore shreds.

Deep Purple and Nazareth was my very first concert back in 1974 when I was around 9 years old. It was at Cobo Hall (Arena?). My 21 year old stepdad took me and I remember my ears hurting for a couple of days afterward.

"Ritchie who ?"

I'm a huge fan of both Morse and Blackmore, and will refrain from the Blackmore versus Morse pissing contest. We both know who the better guitarist is.

Steve Morse plays for Deep Purple because it mainly pays the bills. I can't blame him.

My ears rang for a week after a DP concert. Loudest band I ever heard...

That happened to me at a .38 Special concert years ago in Houston at the Summit. It didn't help to be sitting near the speakers.

The Israeli campaign will prolly be done before another month is out.

-Which means it was shorter than a live DP organ solo.

I like Steve a lot better when does his own material. I don't think he is in Purple for the money though, he has a ton of his own stuff out there.
