Beware when Fox News wishes you well (Olbermann to sleep with the fishes?)
AP (via MSNBC) ^ | 7/21/06 | DAVID BAUDER

Posted on 07/21/2006 4:46:56 PM PDT by frankjr

If someone at Fox News Channel wishes you well, watch your back.

...It's something like a kiss from a Mafia don.

MSNBC host Keith Olbermann was the latest to visit the wishing well. When The New York Times recently asked Fox its opinion of Olbermann...Briganti replied: "Because of his personal demons, Keith has imploded everywhere he's worked. From lashing out at co-workers to personally attacking Bill O'Reilly and all things Fox, it's obvious Keith is a train wreck waiting to happen. And like all train wrecks, people might tune in out of morbid curiosity, but they eventually tune out, as evidenced by Keith's recent ratings decline. In the meantime, we hope he enjoys his paranoid view from the bottom of the ratings ladder and wish him well on his inevitable trip to oblivion."

Here are some others:

- Ted Turner. ...Briganti: "Ted is understandably bitter having lost his ratings, his network and now his mind. We wish him well.

- Tim Russert. ..Fox's Paul Schur: "Tim's sour grapes are obvious here, but at least he's not using his father as a prop to sell books this time around. That said, we wish him well on his latest self-promotion tour."

- George Clooney....Schur said. "But it's obvious he needs publicity considering his recent string of failures. We wish him well in his struggle to regain relevancy."

- MSNBC's David Shuster. ...Briganti came back with: "We can understand David's disappointment in being let go by Fox News Channel, but he's too young to be so bitter. We wish him well in getting his career back on track."

- Jonathan Klein (CNN President). ... "We wish CNN well in their annual executive shuffle." She later stuck the knife in further with: "We wish Jon well in his battle for second place with MSNBC."

Okay...this is off=subject, but did anyone see Bill Hemmer's coverage from the Israeli border around noon (Central Time) today? It was truly pathetic. He asked an Israeli officer when the ground invasion was going to happen...I kid you not. And how many troops were massing at the border. And then he stepped daintily out in the road and counted all six tanks that he saw. If I were the Israeli soldier driving the huge earth moving machine, Fox would no longer have to issue a check to Hemmer.
Then this evening, Shep was hysterical about civilians in Lebanon being driven from their homes. He sounded exactly like he did at the NO Convention Center after Katrina, when he feverishly reported about the stacks of dead bodies and the raped babies. That he did not get fired after those lying reports makes me wonder about Ailes. And sending him to a war zone is a colosal blunder. What in the world is happening to Fox?

It is a small man who used to have a good gig at espn and he did that quite well. Now he is left to reading left wing talking points. He also is known to get very excited in saying "DICK CHENEY IS BEING SUED!!!!!!!!!"

He probably has the same number of viewers now as he had on KCOP.

Earlier today, Hemmer said the Merkava IV was the Isreali "version of the M1 Abrams". IMO He's a moron.

No, I didn't seen Meemermarmer's report at noon, but I did see him around 8:30 CST reporting on incoming Katushkas. It occurred to me that Hezbollah probably has people in the firing crew of those rockets carefully monitoring Fox for information on where they're landing, so they can correct their aim for the next round. Neenernanner Hemmer is doing a super job as a Hezbollah spotter.

Among three possible reasons I think.

1. Probably lazy.
2. Probably bummed out he did not get an emmy
3. All the ESPN guys are running others shows (not their own) as they sub for each other during en mass vacation season. They are lucky if they actually do their own show half the time during summer it seems.

I agree with you about the hysterical drama queen (and I use that word queen in more than one context) Shep. However, I do not agree with you about Bill Hemmer. I think he has been very fair in his coverage on all subjects he has done for Fox. I don't smell any bias off of him, and I think he is very willing to go into dangerous situations to get the news. I frankly like him. He is intelligent, reasonably photogenic, seems like a nice guy, and I don't get the vitriol being hurled his way by some. I think a dose of fairness about Hemmer is in order here.

Without Fox News, Olberman does not have a show. He has no material. His program is nothing but Fox News- bashing, What a low-life...

When employee A complains about employee B, you always learn more about employee A than employee B.

Is there any wonder why Olberman is tanking?

What's an Olbermann?

A parasitic growth on Chrissy Matthews' genitals.

He used to be the sports anchor on a local L.A. station years ago. He was actually fairly entertaining. He got publicly nutty after he went national.

I was going to say that! He used to do the sports reports for KNX, and he was really good at it. I used to tune in just to listen to him.

Once he left sports, it all went downhill. Oh well.

I love FNC standing up for themselves, and calling it like it is. Yes, Olbermann is totally out of control, and deserves a listing in the obituaries, not a feature column.

If only MSNBC weren't so desperate, he would be where he deserves - the gutter, where he can find out who really is the 'worst person in the world'.
