She didn't have the child in a cart. He wandered at least 5 feet away. What was he doing, reading "War and Peace"?
Yes. It is.
It is NOT safe to let a child wander off in an environment that you have no control over.
Yes. It is. Five feet is an arm's reach away. I suppose she should have just carried him everywhere at all times.
Your arms are 5 ft long?!
You blame the mother for her child's death. Yet, you have no idea what happened. Yet, you stand in judgment of this poor woman whose 3 year old is dead due to a freak accident. I am using common sense to argue against callous judgementalism.
You are using emotion. This was a tragic accident that could have been avoided.
That makes no sense.
It is NOT safe to let a child wander off in an environment that you have no control over.
That is correct. However, that scenario has nothing to do with this case.
Your arms are 5 ft long?!
It is easy for a normal sized person to reach for something 5 feet away. Most people don't have to take a step. Some will have to take one step.
You are using emotion.
I am using facts and reason.
This was a tragic accident that could have been avoided.
If the mirror were secured.
I know what you're saying - and there is a trend amongst conservative to make arguments totally deviod of emotion. This is folly. Its a good way to get democrats elected.
Reagan was no pointy head logic-nerd. He used emotions quite effectively.
Sorry to get OT, but this trend toward "logic and only logic" thinking in conservaticve circles is scaring me. Ignore soccer moms at your own peril.
Yes, it is a tragic accident. However there is no way of knowing it "could" have been prevented. The mirror could very well have fallen on someone else, possibly the child's mother if there location had been reversed.
There is not enough information provided to determine who, if anyone is at fault here.
I am to assume then that at Church or the park you never let your kid get more than 5 ft away?
