President Bush addressed the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People -- after five years of invitations -- and blew it. He pandered, he condescended, all to show blacks that, yes, the president feels your pain...

Have you noticed the things that have happened in Bush's 6 years in office? Abortion, illegal Immigration, outsourcing, etc. Gosh life was good 6 years ago.

Pro-lifers have always been 2nd class citizens to the GOP establishment.

Oh stop whining.

The Clinton administration was eight years of a "vacation from history" (with an attribution to Charles Krauthammer).

The bellyachers are crawling out of the woodwork again. Seeing lots of new faces, too.

Get ready for the assault on the GOP from lots of noobs. It'll start in a couple of weeks.

"By speaking before this group Bush showed he is a bigger man than some of the racists in the NAACP. A majority of American blacks are conservative Christians waiting for a strong black leader to come along who is not a crook, a race baiter, or a Muslim."

Conservative blacks don't give two craps what the naacp says.

I agree with Elder and thought exactly that when I saw a couple of brief clips from the speech the other day

How can you characterize his speech from a few brief clips? I watched it in its entirety and not once did I think he conceded anything to Jesse and his ilk.

"I consider it a tragedy," said President Bush, "that the party of Abraham Lincoln let go of its historic ties with the African American community. For too long my party wrote off the African American vote, and many African Americans wrote off the Republican Party."

I reject his contention that it is somehow the fault of "the party of Abraham Lincoln" that 90% of blacks vote for the raving raging Demagogues of the Demagogic Party. I gagged over his words pasted above, and I still choke on them now. He makes it sound as though it's the fault of the Rs that vicious pandering leftist pols have managed to raise a couple of generations of blacks who mostly want to live on the Democrats' plantation. I reject that contention, no matter who says it.

I guess he figured having Teddy over for popcorn proved being "nice nice " with the enemy works so well that he figured he would give it a go with the NAACP

Larry Elder is an ass? Why? Because he dares criticize the Supreme Being In Chief Who Can Do No Wrong? Is he on your list of traitors now? Read what he wishes the President would have said, and compare that to what the President actually said.

Now here's the hard part: Decide which one of the two speeches you would have read in front of the crowd. Be honest. Which one is closer to the truth of the situation? My guess, for what it's worth, is that you would pander to the crowd like Bush did, because you are a Republican't first.

Brilliant comment, by the way. Why don't you enlighten us as to why Elder is the east end of a westbound horse? Or is "he's an ass" sufficient enough for the rubes on this board. Why didn't you call his show, instead of posting something on a forum written by someone you think is an ass? The funny thing is that now I, and many others know what this "ass" wrote, and I wouldn't have unless you posted it. And I agree with him! I'm sure most who read the article agree with Elder, too!

This post is one of the most pathetic of all posts I have seen from a supposed FR veteran who should know better. If Larry is an ass, you are a "hole" 'nuther body part.

I have many black friends whom I know are strong Christians and have conservative opinions about many issues such as abortion and homosexuality. The problem is that they still view themselves as Democrats because they have always voted that way and have bought in to the rhetoric of the "NAALCP" and the Democrat party.

I hope the last year in office he appears in the flesh like the DEMORATS appear at the abortion rights rally

He has to be fair -- he's been pandering to the Hispanic illegals so why blemish a perfect record of grovelling?

He may or may not have been pandering. It's only brought up when he speaks to minorities. I wonder if it's because they're not white or because they're libs. Now I'll be really surprised when folks start crying pandering! when he addresses the usual conservative groups like NRA, pro-life,etc. It's sad that Bush can't do anything right but you can't please everyone. I wish he would speak to some conservative black groups though. Guess what though...it's all about votes and the NAACP can deliver more voters than Project 21 members..for now!
