I don't believe there is a fighter wing at McGuire. Looks like there is a mobility (aka transport) wing and a refueling wing.

On a broader note, I always have to wonder what people think the USAF was going to do even if the fighters DID get there in time on 9/11.

Their choices were:
a. shoot the planes down
b. shoot the planes down

Was anybody at 9:00 AM EST on Sept, 11, 2001 ready to accept civilian planes being shot down by an F15?

Actually, that is incorrect. The first military jets in the air were unarmed. Thus, their choice was --
a. nudge the plane down or
b. ram it.

What a choice for those brave young men in the pilots' seats -- ram a plane with several dozen innocent passengers or allow that plane to ram into another building filled with innocent people.

I am really confused.....why on GMA were they referring to some "admission" that Cheyney and Bush lied about calling up the F16s before the flight 93 went down?? I don't see that anywhere in what I have read??
