I would like to thank the Kurds. I pray for them. They have decided to remain calm. Businesses have invested in their area and some of the Kurds are working. Yes, they have been hit from time to time with a terrorist attack, but they remain strong in their resolve. Yes, I understand that they have a group that has been around for a while that wants their own state, but most of the Kurds want to remain Iraqis.

I could be wrong, but I think you are mixing up who was in charge of what unit. Then MG David Petraeus (CG 101st) "got it" and in no way ever advocated the hammer for the hammer's sake. He and Marine Corps’ General Jim Mattis understood the concept of "no better friend - no worse enemy." Many here seem to advocate going straight to the no worse enemy aspect and by default creating a hundred-fold of no worse enemies in return. Bottom-line – When all you got in your toolbox are hammers – everything starts to look like nails.

I believe in that. I stood at Kennedy's grave several weeks ago and read those words. These are not the words of the Demoratic Party. I don't feeling like appeasing anyone right now.

I am not afraid of any terrorist or nations who supports terrorist. We drove behind enemy lines further and faster and with the least amount of people killed in the history of man kind. Our troops acted with honor and bravery. I love them and I am damn proud of them.

During WWII, the US Gloria was sunk by a German destroyer. We lost over two thousand Sailors that day. Where is our resolve today? We lost three thousand people on 911. I want to make sure them people know not to come back over here with that. I want to leave a big foot print. I think a big foot print is exactly what these people will understand.

I still think you may have it wrong concerning commander's intent in OIF - from what I gathered by your posts I got the impression you were talking about MG Odierno. He was the CG of 4th ID and seemed more inclined to going straight for the hammer as the tool of choice.

Yes, if he was one of the ten or so Generals complaining about the war not so long ago. To me, he was the only General who was saying something worth while.

My bottom-line is that the best way to support the troops is to fire those in leadership positions whose decisions put them in the increased "harms way" situation they are in.

IIRC - In World War II - careers were of a second nature - if you screwed up - you were fired. We need more of that philosophy now - the sooner the better...

Moot point, as one poster has pointed out you can simply clear cookies and vote multiple times. Would you suggest that our national elections be handled in the same manner?

Maybe you are right, but again we have not lost a lot of troops for being in the heart of the dragon. Also, if we pull out early, before the job is done, there will be terrorist camps built there tomorrow.

Here is how that will happen: After the Afghan/Russian war, the CIA was around. They told the Mujahideen that they would help them set up a Government. Some in the Mujahideen were for it and other were not. Those who were not turned into the Taliban. Also, several tribes stood up and civil war broke out. The CIA didn't want involved and they left Afghanistan.

I don't think pulling out is a good idea because I don't think I have to tell you what happened next.

Pulling out of Iraq is a National Security risk. Those who want to pull out are also a National Security risk. Here is so more inspiration for you:

Again, don't take me wrong - I believe the Democrat's would have messed this up ten-fold.

We need a change, and it needs be from the current administration. If we keep slogging along in Iraq until 2008 then the war is lost and we also have a Democratic administration screwing with everything else (kinda simple - but to the point)...

Please read what I wrote - I do not advocate a pullout - cut and run seems to be the popular term these days. What I advocate is competent leadership in that war.

Keep in mind an opinion is simply what one thinks about a topic. It is neither right or wrong, but belongs to the one owning it. Everyone has one, as they say, and they are not always acceptable to others. I am Just A Nobody, but I do have an opinion. Here goes.............

• It is at the pleasure of the President of the United States that the Secretary of Defense serves. No where in the Constitution does it say that a cabal of disgruntled retired generals, with their own troubled past, are the arbitrators of who serves in that position. The President, and thus his cabinet, were re-elected by the majority of the American people to stay the course. Secretary Rumsfeld has offered the President his resignation and it was refused. End of story.

Still, even the MSM can be right at times. They called it an insurgency when the SECDEF denied it and they were spot-on. They reported on the ethnic and religious divisions and how it could very well lead to civil war and the SECDEF brushed it aside.

• Sounds more like a self fulfilled prophecy, or more likely, an order by the ENEMEDIA to me. When the SoD denied an insurgency, is it not possible at that time it was foreign terrorists causing the vast majority of the problems and not Iraqi so-called insurgents? IMHO, there was no "insurgency" until the AQ terrorists developed one using terror tactics and feeding on the fear of reprisals from the previously oppressed majority.

• I have a concern with anyone that questions the dissolution of the Iraqi Army. When the actual resident civilians say that had we kept the Iraqi Army intact, the Iraqi people would never trust them, or the Americans for allowing them to stay in their positions, I listen to them, not armchair quarterbacks sitting in the USA or those hostile to the administration.

I think listening to appeasers and peaceniks is detrimental. Here is why: Two weeks into the war, we had to go gather Iraqi policeman and tell them to do their job. I am watching this on video. We tell the cops to do their job and we will pull security for them. The cop car is parked and there is a perimeter of tanks around the Iraqi police. Four Iraqis run up to the cop screaming that the bank was being robbed. The cop took off our troops followed. The cops nab one of the thieves. The cop cuffs the man and then smacks the thief in the head. I came up out of my chair and I was thinking, 'how are we going to win the hearts and minds with cops thumping on the people'. The cop knocked the thief on his keyster and walked over to his partner. While the cop is talking to his partner, the four people who told the cop the bank was being robbed walked up to the thief. They had sticks about three feet long in their hands. Well, they pummel the robber and the cops just stood there and watched.

Then it hit me, these people understand something different then I do. We are not in Kansas. Do as the Romans would do.
