Were we supposed to ship them up on trains the day after Appomattox? Meanwhile the immigrants just kept on coming, getting off their boats at New York and Boston.

You guys were the ones who wanted immediate emancipation of the slaves, but you never did give a thought about what the former slaves would do AFTERWARD! Lincoln did though, I believe he said "root, hog or die".
