Raped and Murdered Child In Superdome: What Other Lies Did The Media Tell?
8/27/06 | Doctor Raoul

Posted on 08/27/2006 1:18:19 PM PDT by Doctor Raoul

Since the media has planned an orgy of finger pointed for the anniversary of Katrina, let's make sure they get a finger in the eye they so richly deserve for their performance.

Here's a few I recall, and I'm sure there are more:

The media told us of a little girl who had been rapoed and then her throat slit in the Superdome.

Photo captions had white survivors foraging for supplies, while black people were captioned as looting.

Helicopters were being fired at, which led to a stand down till it became clear that it was untrue. All those lives lost during that interval are due to media neglagence and the blood of those victims is on the media's hands.

Please feel free to forward the results to local or national talk radio so their sorry reporting is not white washed.

And another, the hundreds of bodies stacked up in the deep freeze in the Superdome.

Many liberals still believe every lie to come out of N.O.

Here is a link to an EXCELLENT editorial about the media's handling of Katrina. Unfortunately it is from Bloomberg, so it can't be posted here.

And Shep Smith said there were baby bodies along side of the roads, and that people asked him and his crew for water but they did not give any.

As far as the looting/foraging goes, IMO, food & water/supplies=foraging. ANYTHING else = looting.

Are we to believe that no crime occured at the Superdome?

Helicopters were being fired at, which led to a stand down till it became clear that it was untrue.

I remember this clearly being of major concern at the time(would love to know who it came from!)... and that boatowners were being prevented from going out on search and rescue missions.

Shep was the biggest drama queen of them all. Geraldo came in second.

Looting? What looting?

While the media overplayed a lot of the Katrina problems and death toll, IMO some FReepers are in denial about how bad it was.

Just ask any Houstonian how crime went up when they got 100k refugees.

It would make a much shorter list to just ask, "What truths did the media tell?"

And a couple of our own FR members ran an extremely close 3rd and 4th. Pure hysteria and hype.

Although this on scene report was related to flooding caused by storms in the Northeast rather than Katrina, it certainly illustrates the lengths the msm will go to hype a story......

Yep, I remember that thread. Supposed to have been a first hand account but ended up being bogus.

The only looting story I saw more than once was two black female cops looting a Wal-Mart.

Hmmm...and yet CNN went to great lengths to avoid disclosing the cause of death in one case anyway. My girlfriend and I were watching CNN one night...the picture was very pixellated and the reporter explained the person was dead. I wasn't really watching it but from listening to the reporter you would have had no idea whether the person died from heat exhaustion, not getting medicine, or what -- then my girlfriend said, "Do you see that reddish brown splotch? That's a pool of blood!"

The person had either been shot or stabbed, and CNN apparently had no idea why the person died. I guess it's not a lie to omit a material fact.
