The Toronto International Film Festival released new details today regarding a film in their line-up. Previously referred to as D.O.A.P., the film's actual title is DEATH OF A PRESIDENT. This fictional drama, which mixes archival footage with narrative elements, focuses on the assassination of President George W. Bush in the style of a retrospective documentary. DEATH OF A PRESIDENT makes its world premiere in the festival's Visions section on September 10th at 8:30 p.m. at the Paramount 3 Theatre in Toronto.about this film... I wonder if it can even be played legally in the United States while George is in office. Sure, it's obvious parody - but I wonder if they'd get the joke... or take it that way here. No matter, I can't wait to hear if there's any merit to the project from you guys going to Toronto. It could be fun.
"We’re thrilled to be screening the film at Toronto," said writer/director Gabriel Range. “It’s a striking premise which may be seen as highly controversial. But it’s a serious film which I hope will open up the debate on where current US foreign and domestic policies are taking us.”
DEATH OF A PRESIDENT is a thought-provoking critique of the contemporary American political landscape. In the film, President Bush is confronted by a massive anti-war demonstration as he arrives in Chicago to make a speech for business leaders. Unperturbed, Bush goes ahead with the visit but as he leaves the venue, he is gunned down by a sniper. While the nation mourns, the hunt for his killer swings into action and the state apparatus tries to make sense of this horrific attack on the administration. The investigation soon focuses on a Syrian-born suspect.
DEATH OF A PRESIDENT is co-written and directed by Gabriel Range ("The Day Britain Stopped"), and is produced by Borough Films' Range, Simon Finch and Ed Guiney. The executive producer is Robin Gutch. U.S. rights are represented by William Morris Independent, with distribution already secured in the UK by Film Four/Channel 4.
People around here know that I've been rather frank about my disgust with Bush on many issues. Saying that up front, this "load of cr-p" concerning a leftist's wet dream about Bush, is simply unacceptable.
Few things tweak me more than watching the left salivate about harm coming to Bush or Cheney because they have reasoned that the two of them deserve it.

Like Doughty One I am not to thrilled with many of his policies but the left is sick. Truly sick. I think my piece on fanaticism is accurate and I stand squarely behind placing the lefties in that frame. They are dangerous and are being politically cornered and will become more dangerous.
The left is becoming a separatist insurgency and the MSM their mouthpiece. Their loyalty is to each other and to power not to the country or the Constitution.
The good thing is that they are a minority and have little real power except that which acquiesced to them. They have an appearance of power that grows more hollow each day.
I agree. What's more, the left is so marginalizing itself that I truly think it's past time to start documenting their connections (networks) for what seems inevitable just over the horizon.
Your suggestion sounds good but personally my talents don't lie in that direction.

They are no better informed on domestic and international policies and issue than any other citizen. They have no right nor reasonable expectation to think their opinions matter any more than anyone elses. It is self-aggrandizing fantasy of the most futile sort on their part to think they can affect policy.
They can puff up their chests full of self-importance and talk about serious work, drama, documentaries, etc. It is so much hot air to me. To me none of them are to be taken much more seriously than any others. It doesn't matter if they do drama, non-fiction, or porno.

My take is that we are only a couple of years, if that, away from leftists beginning an insurrection in our own nation.
Some idiots have already done this, ELF ALF et al. The left is playing up the 'stolen elections' and other ploys to the point that their people are sold on the idea that they don't have representation.
Some of those folks are going to have to go postal or their little pointy heads will explode.
That's why I think it might be best to start documenting the memberships of certain leftist groups, and how they network.

Thank you twice over, antceecee. It is nice to be appreciated. I hope more will come to see that it is not hyperbole to say that the left is mentally ill. If those of us who aren't won't accept it it won't be possible to help those who are. At some point I think most of them will want back into the American fold. That is a ways down the road I suppose.
