No, Civil war and all it entails won't be far behind. If we had guarded or border as we should have th problems would be "down south" and of no particular concern to us.
Now, thanks to bleeding heart liberal vote mongers and corporatist who don't care about any country at all, it is unavoidable. If histiry holds up, we have about three years to prepare for it. (I'm making less of a prediction than a best guess based on populations and history.)
