Preview and Analysis of the Weekend Talk Shows for 9/9 and 9/10/2006

The fifth anniversary of 9/11 is Monday, and the drive by media wants to make sure you know what you are supposed to think.  They also really don't want you to get a chance to hear any other versions of the 9/11 narrative that might raise questions about their approved one.

Meet the press has Vice President Dick Cheney ("for the first time in three years" - gee I wonder why?) for the "full hour" (not counting commercials, promos, asides, other business, etc., etc.).  The drive by media is beginning to report, sympathetically, on Democrat candidates who are promoting the idea that the Bush administration, primarily led by Darth Republican, Dick Cheney himself, are the real perpetrators of the attacks on 9/11.  I doubt seriously if Iil Timmah will broach that particular notion, but watch for subtext in the questions he does ask that implies doubt about the "official story."  I'll be watching for emphasis on the new Democrat attack profile, particularly that Iraq is not part of the war on terror (which doesn't really exist anyway) and, except for being distracted by Iraq all would be perfect in Afghanistan.  I think this marks the 3,761st grand strategy by the dims since January of 2000, and the 3,215th this year alone.  Don't expect Darth to cooperate with lil Timmah's plans.

Face The Nation gives my area the first of three appearances by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice today.  I expect a similar approach for good ol' Bob Schieffer's questioning of Condi as I think lil Timmah will take with Dick Cheney, but with a twist.  Once again, arguments of some "reliable voices" of the moonbat left are being picked up by the DBM about Condi, too.  This time they are pushing the notion that the President's speech this week, announcing the move of 14 high value Al Qaeda prisoners to Gitmo, was some sort of "victory" of Princess Condi or evil Darth Cheney and the neo-cons.  With probably no more than five to ten minutes available, given that there are two other guests, I expect ol' Bob to try to set up questions with Dr. Rice as intros for Chuckie Schumer to make this type of attack (Bob wouldn't broach such a subject with his Republican guest present, after all).  How detailed and extensive Chuckie's response is on this specific question will tell me whether or not he had advance knowledge of the questions.  I bet Chuck will also be given ample opportunity to denounce the ABC docu-drama, The Path To 9/11, even if it's been pulled or substantially altered already.  What's amazing is that they actually think this debacle is good for them and, by extension, the country.  I have a feeling that Governor Pataki is only on the show to be asked why he hasn't fixed that hole in the ground yet.  He's probably not much of a threat for Hillary in '08, but her allies have to do all that they can to cut off all opposition as early as possible.

Fox News Sunday provides Secretary Rice her second appearance in our area with (probably) a more sympathetic interview.  I have come to expect Chris Wallace to hit on precisely the same themes that the other DBM talking heads are hitting, but to give his Republican guests an actual opportunity to respond.  Wow, what a concept!  Personally, I would prefer that he pursue different questions, but I'll take what I can get.  For amusement they've also got Howard Dean on.  I'm actually surprised that he would come on Fox, but the rest of the DBM are probably obeying orders not to give him a platform to embarrass the dims.  It may be that Howie is on FNC to try to sow discord among the right wingers.  It might be instructive to see what the Moby plan is this time.  The roundtable is Brit Hume, Bill Kristol, Juan (smack down) Williams and Mara Liasson.  I trust that Juan will make some egregiously silly comment to provide Brit grist for his mill.

ABC This Week provides a selective reunion of four members of the 9/11 Commission, Tom Kean Sr., Richard Ben-Veniste, Jamie Gorelick and John Lehman.  Lehman has turned into a reliable critic of the Bush administration on all things WOT, while Gorelick and Ben-Veniste are faithfull members of the Clinton Omerta chorus.  That leaves Tom Kean as this weeks sacrificial Republican.  After all, he participated in that nasty evil piece of filthy right wing Nazi fiction being put out by Rush Limbaugh's friend, The Path To 9/11.  George Steponallofus must serve his ultimate masters and, therefore, Tom must be destroyed.  And then the always reliable ABC roundtable will provide us their constant BDS review of the DNC talking points.  ABC is intent on proving that, right or left, everyone hates Bush.  Not as funny as Ray Romano, but pretty bizarre and funny in its own way.

CNN Late Edition provides their usual (much more) eclectic mix of guests.  Dr. Rice is up for interview number three, but this time CNN has brought in a "fair and balanced" alternative point of view, John (I served in Vietnam) Kerry.  I'm actually looking forward to hours of enjoyment from the foolishness that John Kerry can provide with this opportunity.  Oddly enough, I have faith that John Kerry won't let me down on this.  CNN brings in Said Jawad from Afghanistan and Dr. Mowaffak al-Rubaie from Iraq.  These are voices rarely heard from in the rest of the DBM.  I'm not real tolerant of CNN for how they "report" the news, but their commitment to bringing voices from the actual places being discussed is second to none.  They also offer up Brian Jenkins, author and terrorism expert for Rand Corporate, and the Assistant director of the FBI for public affairs, John Miller.  In their segments I expect Jenkins to get a sympathetic reception, because his positions lend themselves to criticism of the Bush administration, while Miller is likely to be grilled on "illegal surveillance programs."  And so it goes.

The Saturday shows are more interesting to me this week than normal.  Mort and Fred will do their usual "yes they are... no they aren't" dance, providing an advance look at inside the beltway conventional "wisdom," particularly on the upcoming elections.  Lil Timmah's Saturday warm up show on CNBC has more than the usual (lefty) book promotion.  They offer up uber dim Rahm Emanuel, and past tense pubbie, Ed Gillispie.  Gillispie has hooked his consulting / comeback to George Allen's presidential train (in opposition to not only the dims but St. McCain, as well) and I have a feeling he is going to be targeted for some talking points questions.  Rahm is butting heads with Howie Dean, but I get the impression that this wing of the dims is viewed as the safer bet for the DBM, so I'll look for friendly questions there.  Fox News Watch continues their mix of the momentous (9/11) and the banal (Perky Katie Couric's debut).  In all cases, however, any fault is elsewhere, as the DBM is only trying to fulfill their "mission."  Someday there will be a reckoning for this generations "journalists."  It won't be pretty.  It will be particularly grotesque for so called "critics" of the DBM who obscured the facts, ignored the truth and defended the indefensible.  I think Dante's model will have to add another layer to Hell specifically for these folks, unless they can be shoehorned into the 8th (fraud) and 9th (betrayel) layers.  And finally, the (Wall Street) Journal Editorial Report gives us their usual serious discussion of where we were, where we have been and what lies ahead.  I enjoy this show and look to it for the adult view of the week's subjects.  This week I'm concerned that the topics don't offer any encouragement on this anniversary.

I don't despair because of this weeks shows.  I do, however, despair for the old media, as they just don't seem to realize that we aren't sill operating under the fantasy rules of the 90s.  History will not be kind to them, assuming we live to see that judgement.

This will be cross posted to FreeRepublic.COM for discussion purposes. This post exists primarily as a heads up for who is on the weekend talks shows, what they've been invited on to push (based on their recent pronouncements) and the spin (meme) the DBM is likely trying to push based on that information. All of this is prep work for the weekly Sunday Morning Talk Show thread posted by Alas Babylon!. That thread provides a live commentary and analysis of the Sunday talking head shows, with rare insight and exceptional fact checking. we are the Jedi Council of FreeRepublic, at least in regards to these DBM gabfests. You wanna know what was said and what it meant, as well as where they messed up? Read that thread!

I will also post a link to Mark Kilmer's excellent preview over at RedState.COM when it is up.

I'll post a link to this Sunday's live thread here when it is up.

Hi, Phsstpok. Thanks for all the hard work and analysis. I'll be sure to watch MTP with Dick Cheney this Sunday and will read more carefully what you have had to say here when I'm more alert tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the ping. Looks like MTP for preferred viewing. Why do these shows still have JFK whining and crying? Geez!

Thank you Phsstpok...for yet again a stellar preview thread.

I am a bit saddened though..to NOT see Biden, McCain, Levin, Lugar on any of these shows....too bad...LOL

I watched a little bit of Chrissy Matthews tonight...and he played a clip of Dick "CHEENEY" (how Chrissy pronounces his name) saying that he NEVER said something...then a clip of him saying it about 3 years ago on Meet the Press...

I just sighed...but, when I saw on you report that Cheney will be on Meet the Press...I sighed again...because I KNOW now, that Chrissy just set up the shot for Fat Timmah, and Timmah can slam dunk that soundbite right into Cheney's face on Sunday.

It is gonna be ugly....because I bet Fat Timmah and Chrissy have had their peons toiling over video tape for weeks looking for more "gotcha" moments.

Actually Schumer should be grilled about it...because there never would have been this three year sham, if he hadn't pushed for it...

But, since I tend to think that this was a set up to begin with...I am sure he was "told" to push for an investigation...however, I don't hold out much hope that it will be brought up this Sunday..

I think the show hosts will be trying too hard to take any credit away from Bush re: his handling on 9/11...

Outstanding work Phsstpok...thank you! Dick Cheney is going to be the highlight...little Timmah had better watch out. From what I have seen, Cheney is in a particularly evil mood. LOL.

I would like to remind everyone of the Rockefeller memo..http://www.hillnews.com/news/110603/memo.aspx

and then direct them to the closing paragraphs of the latest Intelligence report.

http://intelligence.senate.gov/phaseiiaccuracy.pdf

With Hagel and Snow on the committee, the Dems/Libs now control it. Conservative Republicans are extremely unhappy with the report.

Amazing isn't it. President gave a really hammer stoke of a speech this week. Notice the topic has all ready been dropped by the Junk Media? Instead, they, like the Conservative Talking heads, will spend all their time on the manufactured hysteria about the "Path to 911"

If we want to know why the Conservative message is having such a hard time being heard, we can look in the mirror for the source of the problem. Simply amazing how the Conservative Media allows itself to be spun time and time again by the Democrat establishment.

Great job this week Phsstpok. Can't wait until the shows, doesn't get any better than Condi or Cheney, two of the best.
The 911 tapes better be the topic on most shows otherwise we can tell the fix is in.

I share your tiny tears with no biden or McCain,(but not really.)

The rats have really exposed themselves this time with their communist manifesto they issued on how they view free speech for the Disney corp. We need to hold their feet to the fire forever on this one.

The Translation below was posted on FR on March 21 2006 but in the light of the Senate intelligence report that said no connection between Saddam and Al Qaeda it worth publish it again, of course if the Admin Moderator allows it.

Document: Iraqi Intelligence met with Bin Laden in 1995 (Translation)

Pentagon/FMSO website about Iraq Pre-War Documents ^ | March 21 2006 | jveritas

In the Pentagon/FMSO document http://70.168.46.200/released/03-20-06/ISGZ-2004-009247.pdf there is a clear report about the relation between Iraq and Bin Laden that dated back to 1995. This document contains a 9 page report from the Iraqi Intelligence Apparatus and it is titled “The Saudi Opposition and Achieving the Relation and Contact With Them”. In the report they talk about there meeting with Osama Bin Laden and that Bin Laden in 1995 and how to establish relations with him. In the meeting Bin Laden asked the Iraqis for joint operations with them against the Foreign forces (US military) in the land of Hijaz (Saudia or Saudi Arabia).

I did a partial translation of the report that is related to Osama Bin Laden

(Translation of Part of Page 1)
