September 10, 2006 -- Bill Clinton's camp yesterday demanded that ABC can its controversial film "The Path to 9/11," due to air tonight - and in a scathing new letter accused the network of exploiting the tragedy for ratings. Clinton's wrath comes amid new revelations that the Toronto set of the fictionalized flick was plagued by actors' concerns that the script was playing fast and loose with the truth, sources told The Post.
Clinton's lawyer, Douglas Band, and the CEO of his foundation, Bruce Lindsey, penned the fuming missive to ABC bigwig Bob Iger. It was dated Friday but released to the press yesterday.
It begins with a friendly "Dear Bob" salutation - but quickly leaves the pleasantries behind.
"As a nation, we need to be focused on preventing another attack, not fictionalizing the last one for television ratings," it reads.
But Clinton's aides, in a race to beat the clock before tonight's scheduled 8 p.m. telecast, used stronger language yesterday.
"Do the right thing for the country and pull this despicable work of fiction from the air," urged Jay Carson, a Clinton spokesman.
"Airing something that is incontrovertibly incorrect at a time like this is inexcusable."
One controversial fictionalized scene that sparked outrage features then-National Security Adviser Sandy Berger declining to give the go-ahead to kill Osama bin Laden.

I am optimistic, but not thrilled.
We'll have to see if our version is the same.
Who's to say ABC edited it? For all we know they claim to be editing it, when in fact they might not be.
There is a larger Conservative point to be made here than simply savaging Bill Clinton, as much as he deserves it.
The larger point is that government itself is corrupt, incompetent and ineffective. Of course, some executives may be more corrupt, incompetent and ineffective than others. But it is the nature of governments that they cannot deal effectively with this type of threat.
If somebody had come along in 1999 and proposed legislation along the lines of the PATRIOT act and suggested that President Clinton should have even a portion of the powers President Bush has taken unto himself, there would have been riots in the streets. Until our country is attacked, we will always try to go along and get along. It is simply our nature.
Even with this legislation and powers accreted to the Presidency, we are still vulnerable to determine attackers. The government is simply never going to able to anticipate and prevent the things that individuals can do acting independently.
Listening to Bill Clinton whine about "lies" in this program was the funniest thing I've heard in a long time.
When the Clinton's are involved, the spinning and deception is deep. I don't know what to think of this movie because the people at ABC are in with the Clinton's you would think.
But maybe, just maybe, some of the liberals and Democrats out there (Kerry, Gore, Dean) know that Hillary must be thrown over the side to win in 2008.
This is being called a "right-wing" hit piece when in fact it may be a liberal hit piece to hurt the Clintons in general and Hillary's planned run.

I saw some Dem, used to work for Clinton, woman on John Kasich's show last nite. She said we shouldn't spend time time examining "the path to 9-11" we should only honor those killed and move forward. Whatever, hypocrit.
There's no censorship. ABC didn't cave. The movie is going to be shown, whether Bubba likes that or not. The director said on Friday that it was too late to edit, and ABC can't edit someone elses work.

This could be a repeat of dashed hopes, although I tend to doubt it, given that he's made such a gigantic fuss about this mini series.
Look, that is all BS. I have watched and tracked Harvey Keitel since he began acting in "Mean Streets". Mr. Keitel is as hard as nails, and as tough as they come. He would not do anything that he did believe in. The MSM and Democrat scum and vermin can complain all they want. The fact that Keitel stayed with the project means he green lighted it.
My thinking is, Clinton is running interference with this BS of his, and people won't watch it because they've been fed a bunch of BS that certain parts of the movie have been edited out. I say watch the movie and then decide for yourself afterward.
